Uptown fire on Wilson Ave.


A fire erupted at 915 West Wilson Avenue near Wilson and Hazel, around 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to officials, the fire started in a third floor apartment.

An ambulance took one tenant from the five-story building to Weiss Memorial Hospital, 4646 North Marine Drive.

The injured man, believed to be in his early to mid-fifties, suffered minor smoke inhalation, said police.

Tenants who were temporarily removed from the burning building, were allowed to wait in the lobby at The Friendly Towers at 920 West Wilson Avenue.
