Police are looking for a suspect wanted for homicide in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood.
The incident occurred Sunday, around 4:10 p.m., at 4052 North Bernard Street, near Bernard and Belle Plaine Avenue.
Details surrounding the murder were not immediately available.
Authorities identified the offender as a male Hispanic named Gilberto Mojena.
Mojena is approximately 5'11", 300 pounds, and has tattoos on both of his arms.
Mojena fled the scene in a maroon Dodge Neon with the temporary license plate 6 5 9 M 9 6 2.

ReplyDeletewe all know that there isnt really a way out and some of these people get involved when very young and cant even legally make decisions for themselves yet. but if there is no way out and every person who is fine out there can place judgement or wish death on these kids, of course they will feel there is no way out. SOME gangbangers are ruthless, but ask our court system why they continue to let them back on the streets to do more damage and turn more kids into gangbangers instead of getting them psychiatric help. It's always easy to blame the government for somebody's problems, but it wasn't the government who put them into the gangs in the first place. We all have problems, but the vast majority take the hard road and do good in life, and get an education. There is help out there, but they don't want it. Gang bangers just want what comes easy, and ruin the lives of those around them. Don't fool yourself into believing that gang-banging is the only option for these people. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get a GED, or a license to work in a specialized field. We've spent trillions fighting a war against terrorists in other lands. We don't need them in our own neighborhoods. Nobody can ever say they've lived a perfect life, but not everybody sees gang-banging as a necessity to survival. I live in the neighborhood, and I always see 'poor people' selling stuff from their carts. At least those people are doing something productive with their lives. There's no glory in gang-banging. Parents need to do a better job at preventing their children from choosing life of trouble. I know many successful people raised by a poor single parents. None of them were ever gangbangers. Take a look at Barack Obama. He's from very poor family and found success through hard work, and determination to succeed.

These people are destroying neighborhoods and communities with their actions. Where was his family and friends and wife to confront him when he made these terrible decisions? ReplyDeleteI'm just a regular person in this neighborhood and I live across the street from where this happened. I'm not a gangbanger, nor do I do drugs. Regardless of this, I still have a heart for the kids who have no family and get recruited into a life where they grow up seeing only violence. For myself, and those of you had parents who watched out for you, feel lucky. Who you are born to is all luck of the draw. You have no idea what it's like to grow up in that world. Humans are not cockroaches that need to be stamped out or killed. By saying things like this, (anonymously too) you present a lack of human decency and a poorly developed moral compass. Ironically, this is exactly what you're accusing them of having. Think about it.

However, parents have to realize that they are responsible for the way they raise their children. This doesn't only affect 'the family.' It affects the entire community.

ReplyDeleteI totally understand your concerns regarding your neighborhood and the issues that are going on but remember that there is a family that is destroyed at the loss of this young man whose life you don't even seem to value one bit. Well, as Jesus said "He who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone.” John 8:7 How easy it is for us to sit at our computers and judge others without knowing the person, without feeling compassion for a hurting mother and family. I wonder how many making comments here have actually taken an active role in the lives of our young people to help them change their lives. Judging and being so high and mighty is easy but what about taking the initiative and getting out there and for those of us who are believers in Christ, ministering to these lives. For those who aren't well, I'll keep you in prayer, but even you could be used by God to have an impact on one of these lives if you go out there and try to make a positive difference as opposed to sitting on a cushy chair at your computer judging them. Remember, we are all human beings despite our flaws and downfalls and I am quite sure that all of us, have many things that we can say we are not proud of doing or having done. May I suggest we use our energy and our time, to pray for a hurting family, to pray for our young people and actually go out there and try to make a difference in their lives. Jose you are dearly loved and will be missed but will live on in the hearts of those of us who loved you.

I have close friends that served in the military for OUR freedom, and were greatly affected by what they experienced. These thugs are on borrowed time. Their family and friends can defend them all they want, but THIS COMMUNITY WILL NOT TOLERATE this activity in OUR HOOD! Only those that are weak-minded find good in gang-banging. Somebody said that the young man who got killed was 'turning his life around, and making good choices' may have been deceived by this young man. I understand that PTSD is just kicking in for you. Instead of feeling sorry for yourselves and anger towards another man, do something about it when you see these 'kids' going down the wrong path. I can't watch over everybody in my neighborhood and know what they are plotting in their house or yours. Some parents don't want to be too intrusive on their kids lives and give them too much freedom. It's a parent's job to be intrusive, and know if their kids are heading down the wrong path. If you are close to these kids, then you should help them find the right path. I keep an eye out for suspicious activity in my neighborhood, and look out for my neighbors' properties. However, I cannot raise your children for you. If I do see your children doing something wrong in MY NEIGHBORHOOD, I can call the police. Then you'll probably send your kid to court and they'll have to deal with it on their own. Their parent's need to provide more discipline to the children. I cannot do it for you.

Don't be hurt if someone hates a gang banger or doesn't have mercy for them.
We don't know if these people with so much hate for gangs where once victims of their violence.
Unfortunately, gangs or people associated with them, are out to commit crimes. Gangs aren't out to protect the community and save lives. Sadly, the victims in this case, had victimized people in their past. This is why it's so hard for people to have mercy over anyone involved in the altercation on Irving and Bernard.
Instead of exchanging HATE words here on this post, let's make a difference in our own lives and the live of potential family members who we think are involved in gang activity.
Being mad here or at the person who killed the victim is not solving anything not even bringing back the victim. The worse thing about this all is that some of the victims friend's have a picture of "c-baw" throwing up gang signs as their facebook profile. If they had any commmon sense they would not post that as their profile pic. It does not help "C-baw" look good. If you know the friends who are doing that you should tell them not to post pictures like that up. Being part of a gang and throwing up gang signs whould not be something you are proud of. Also, people don't want to remember "c-baw" like that. We wonder why people on the post hat gangbangers and don't care if they die. Sadly, the gangbangers give them reasons for everyone to HATE them. Jose was a member of my family and though I didn't know him very well since I reside in California, everything happens for a reason. Why, a good portion of you use this post to portray how hyppocritical and incapable of being humane is beyond me. Allow the people close to him the opportunity to mourn his death without all your stupid and unnecessary comments. I will not bring myself down to your level and bash you although I hope the Lord changes the way your mind operates. You are seriously disturbed human being. To even conjure up an image like that in your mind and then put it into words is not the conduct of a normal person. You should really seek psychological and psychiatric help. Maybe even think of committing yourself into a mental institution because as far as I'm concerned, someone with that kind of thinking, is a menace to this neighborhood. If those are your visuals and images, you are seriously sick and disturbed and absolutely need mental health care. No normal human being conjures up visuals like that and much less puts them in writing. I would be terrorized just thinking you could be my neighbor and I would be afraid of what you could do to my children. Those are probably images of people in the category of John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer, etc. Neighbors beware, there is a serious sicko in the neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteFor me, its never cool to speak ill about the dead...especially if the got shot in the back in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon... and especially if they have a wife, kid, and family that may read this.
To "THE TRUTH"- You have to understand that you may feel adamant about your family and believe that they are good people; while others will hold different regards toward your family. You have made your point clear, but there will always be those who feel otherwise after this incident. You may have made disrespectful comments towards other people and their families, which won't make you much of a better person either. This whole experience is a disgrace to the entire community. Living in a "bad neighborhood" is not something you should be proud of, by any means.
ReplyDeleteYou can keep repeating yourself about how you feel, but somebody will always disagree with you. I'm sure you've lived a perfect life with no enemies, and I'm sure you've never wished death upon anybody; let alone cursed their family. I'm sure you'll react with statements to the contrary, as I now come to expect that from you. I'm sure one of those other guys you keep arguing with will come back with a smart comment as well. It feels good to put people down. It kinda pumps up your ego, and makes you feel like you're better than everybody else (I'm talking in general terms. Not you specifically) We all say negative things about people at some point or another. However, it's never right to threaten violence or harm upon somebody.
Let this incident be a lesson to all of us that not everybody will agree with our perspectives. Remember that wars are created by a conflict of ideals. Peace grows through tolerance.
This thread shouldn't be about the deceased victim. In fact, the victim's name isn't even mentioned in the original police alert. This thread should remain as a public awareness of a public nuisance that remains at large and a threat to the public. Leave the dead guy out of the discussion on this thread, and please bring all information to the police. There should be no more discussion about whoever this Mojena guy killed. This thread is meant to be a public bulletin to keep an eye out for a dangerous and unstable criminal. As somebody else said previously, "There are no winners here." Be grateful that we live in a free country where you can express your feelings publicly, and we can debate on issues like this. However, all this childish banter really just detracts from the main purpose of this blog. That is to create public awareness of possible threats to our communities.
ReplyDeleteSome people don't respect the family, and some do. Which is fine either way. This is a free country and we are allowed to express our opinions accordingly.
Obviously there are strong opinions on both sides, and there will be no agreement about who is right and who is wrong. The family is indeed going through a very tough time right, as is the community. Both groups need to heal. Yes, they'll go through similar healing processes in different ways and eventually everybody will move on with their lives. The family will remember Jose Cisneros for what they saw in him. Meanwhile, the community will remember him for what he brought upon them. One side will never forget him, and the other side will want to forget him. However, he certainly left an indelible mark on both sides.
To his friends, please do your mourning, but also understand, that not everybody feels the same way about C BAW as you do. There are people in the community that have been living there far longer than C Baw was alive, and they will continue to live there (some even twice as long) The fabric of this community is not tied together with the legacy he leaves behind. Some will feel that he left no legacy at all.
It is not for you to decide how others should feel. You do have a right to express your opinion about the situation, but you cannot suppress the opinions of others.
One thing that we can all agree on, is to disagree. So let's put all this childishness to rest and work TOGETHER to build a stronger and safer community. The best way to help the community is through VOLUNTEERING. Volunteering to help keep the streets clean; volunteering at the community center to help mentor the generations to follow; volunteering at the Albany Park Community Center; and volunteering to make our neighborhoods safer and stop the violence.
Nobody will disrespect you for helping make the community a better place. As a resident of the community, I wish this situation was never brought upon any of us to begin with. Nobody should live in fear under ANY circumstances.
When a person gets shot, it don't mean that person was in a gang or a gang member,And CHILDREN get SHOT and THEY DON'T HAVE A GANG and that don't make them a gang member.there should be no JUDGING UPON ANYONE.... everybody should be looking for the shooter Mojena and I live in your neighbour hood. I want it safe.
