Shootings in Avalon Park and South Chicago, leave 2 people injured

Two men, in adjacent South Side Chicago neighborhoods, were injured in unrelated shootings.

The first incident took place around 10 p.m. on the 8200 block of South Exchange Avenue in South Chicago.

The victim was apparently walking along the sidewalk when he was shot in the foot. He was taken to South Shore Hospital in good condition.

Police said the shooter may have been driving a maroon-colored van.

The second shooting occurred around 11:18 p.m. at 1539 West 82nd Street, near the corner of 82nd and Justine, in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood.

Three men fired shots into a basement apartment, striking one of the occupants in the leg and ribcage.

The shooting victim was identified as a 23-year-old African-American man. His condition was not disclosed.

All three offenders were wearing dark clothing and blue jeans.

No arrests have been made. The shooters in both cases are still at large.

  1. Shot in the foot? Did he accidentally shoot himself or are these ghetto thugs really that bad of a shot? Guess it's a lucky thing they are lousy shots!
