Woman’s purse snatched in Rogers Park; Albany Park purse snatcher arrested

February 23, 2011, around 11:19 p.m., a woman’s purse was snatched in Chicago’s North Side Rogers Park neighborhood.

According to police, the crime occurred near the intersection of North Glenwood and West Albion Avenues - which is approximately 6620 North Glenwood.

The victim said a man wearing a dark jacket, a ski mask, and shiny red jogging pants, stole her purse. Although the victim wasn't sure, she believed the offender was Caucasian.

The crook was last seen running westbound on Albion, then southbound on Newgard Avenue.

Later that night, in an unrelated incident, a woman’s purse was snatched on the 4800 block of North Springfield Avenue in Albany Park.

I became aware of the crime at 11:36 p.m.

Two minutes later, at 11:38 p.m., an officer announced over his police radio that a male suspect carrying a purse “that didn’t match his outfit”, was arrested at the corner of Hamlin and Lawrence Avenues.

A detailed description of the offender was not provided.
