At approximately 2:14 a.m., police were called to the 7-Eleven parking lot at 3407 North Halsted Street, between Newport and Roscoe.
The initial police dispatch report indicated several black males were fighting outside the North Side convenience store.
When police arrived, the suspects had moved farther north to the 3400 block of North Elaine Place, near Elaine and Cornelia.
There, two black males were arrested and charged with battery, according to police communications.
A battery victim -- who apparently refused medical treatment -- was escorted by police to the CTA Red Line Addison station.
This is really getting out of hand. This is my neighborhood, my home and it is getting to the point that savages are preying on the GLBT community. If these groups of individuals were Caucasian, the media would report such incidents as hate crimes; but apparently in these circumstances they choose not to call it what it is. The consistency of these types of crimes in the gayborhood merits wide media coverage as these incidents are far worse than last year's incident that gained so much media coverage and community outrage. How can we proactively get people to care about these hate crimes and push for our community to come together and take action? Why do our elected officials choose to remain mute?

ReplyDeleteI sat in one of the windows last night for about 8 minutes. I never do that. They all converge right about midnight. Literally carloads of used Caddy's and Benzo's circling around looking for parking. I saw a "brawl" right at the corner in that short period. One came by and just punched another right in the head, another group got involved, the cops drove by and it most obviously moved on up the street too. One of those scrawny lil' female "mad at the world" types walked by and literally stared like she never saw a White person before. High as H on something. She stopped to the right and kept staring, trying to hide herself. Wierd. They don't stick out like a sore thumb because their black, it's their drug laced very, very odd behavior. Like a zombie. Again, that's not alcohol and that's the scary part. I heard another on the street say "yo man, I don't live here, this ain't my 'hood, I just come up ("up") here because....." (and I'm regretting not stopping to hear the rest) but I usually just "move along" as they should too rather than sit on your porch stoops in droves.
Can't help but notice that newer construction there is "for RENT". I know those weren't built as apartment buildings. I was really considering inquiring about it but no way would I live there. No way.
Really, you're way too late. You people have been too complacent and "understanding" to a point of horror. If you want your neighborhood "back", groups of White men are just going to have to stand out there in huddles to intimidate, follow and harrass as well. It's not going to happen here though. The puppy brigade didn't work.
Get out of there by midnight at the latest. That's all I can say.

And it's quite apparent that many of these people aren't gay. They don't patronize the businesses, I don't see them inside. They come to your "neighborhood" to wreak havoc, settle their scores, cause trouble, rob and whatever else because - they CAN (and most likely would have some fierce defense in their own 'hood and couldn't get away with it there).

If these worthless wastes of space come to respectable neighborhoods to intimidate, fight, rob, and hurt people, it seems perfectly legitimate that once citizens are tired of putting up with it, they will organize and work together to police their own streets and establishments. I'm not a gun owner or user, but if this state allowed conceal and carry, the playing field might be very different. Think about it: these idiot gang members arm themselves to "protect" their turf.
