Thief Changes Mind During Avondale Family Dollar Robbery

A man walked into the Avondale Family Dollar store at 3429 West Diversey Avenue, pulled a gun, and demanded the store clerk empty the register. Before the clerk could comply, the armed thief changed his mind and walked out empty-handed.

Police were notified around 7:22 p.m.

The suspect is described as an African-American man, approximately 6-feet-tall, 200 lbs, and 25 to 30-years-old. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with white designs on it, a red t-shirt underneath, dark or black jeans, white gym shoes, and a black skull cap.

According to video surveillance, the offender with an apparently guilty conscious, fled the Family Dollar store eastbound on Diversey Avenue.
