The shooting occurred around 8:44 p.m. Several residents reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area. One person heard as many as eight gunshots.
Citizens also reported hearing shots fired in the vicinity of Belmont and Kimball.
According to police, the shooter exited a home on the 3200 block of North Monticello Avenue and opened fired on a white SUV; traveling northbound on Monticello.
The gunman shot one man in the head and the other victim‘s injuries were described as a graze wound. Both victims were taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
While trying to escape the shooter, the driver of the SUV struck several parked cars, said one officer.
Witnesses who saw the shooting are cooperating with police. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing a black hoodie. He may be driving a silver, Chevy Silverado.
UPDATE: According to police, around 10:30 p.m., a group of rowdy friends and family members were kicked out of Illinois Masonic Hospital. A subsequent newsflash was given, alerting officers in the area of Belmont and Monticello, to be on the lookout for retaliatory shootings.
