A man was robbed on the 5700 block of North Magnolia Avenue, near the intersection of North Magnolia Avenue and West Hollywood Avenue, in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood.
The robbery occurred around 12:20 a.m.
Police said the victim was approached by an African-American man wearing a brown leather jacket and a bandanna over his face. The suspect was approximately 5’7”, and the robbery victim believes the gunman may have been working with two accomplices.
After stealing the complainant’s wallet, the offender walked (not ran) eastbound towards Broadway.
This is the second known robbery in Edgewater, in less than three days.
Oh but we, the law-abiding taxpaying citizens of this city, can't "carry" to protect ourselves against the dregs of society. People, stand up and fight an outdated law about carrying a weapon or anyone of us could be these thugs next victim instead of the other way around! The laws in this city and this country benefit ONLY the criminals and then we use our tax money to give them 3 squares, a bed, clean clothes, access to the internet, cell phones, an education and degrees. We are way to complacent in this country. Fight for the right to walk the streets at anytime of the day or night without having to worry about these low life, bottom feeding thugs. Turn the tables on them and watch the crime truly drop in this city. Ghetto scum!
ReplyDeleteI'm not against people being allowed to carry but I get really tired of simplistic comments like towanda's. The pro- and anti- gun nuts both troll news articles about murder and mayhem and use what was a traumatic experience for the victim as fodder for their endless chortling and arguing. It's sooooooo tired. and I'm tired of these people who think real life is like an action movie, who think that if the victim had the right to carry a gun (a) he would have chosen to buy one and walk around with it, and (b) it would have done him any good. Most robberies and assaults happen so quickly, the victims are still processing what just happened to them after the bad guy has gotten away. I've been robbed at gunpoint and I've also seen my best friend get shot in the head in front of me by two black thugs. Being armed wouldn't have done any good in either circumstance. That's just simply the truth. That's what happened. Not some keyboard-jockey conjecture from some troll with an agenda.
