3 Shot at West Town Gas Station (Update)

Early this morning, moments after the shooting, Chicago News Report broke the story. You can read my initial report, "3 People Shot in West Town Neighborhood", by clicking HERE.

And once again, thanks to CBS2Chicago, we now have more details.

On October 9, 2010, 3 men were shot at the Gomez Shell Services Center at 1950 W. Division, in Chicago's West Town neighborhood. The shooting victims have been identified as a cabdriver who was putting air in his tires, and two alleged gang members.

According to the gas station attendant, he called the police 10 minutes before the shooting, when he spotting several men hanging out on the corner and reportedly yelling gang slogans at passing cars.

It's being speculated that the shooting was gang-related and that the cabdriver was not the intended victim.

As stated in my initial report, 2 victims were taken to Stroger Hospital and the third was taken to St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in West Town.

Some people are outraged that it took police 10 minutes to arrive, but in all fairness, our police department is being stretched beyond its limits, and the initial call was a "gang disturbance", not a shooting. Shootings always take priority with the police. Trust me.
