I have many videos on Youtube spotlighting these losers, just do an initial search for "Improper Dancing (In the middle of Clark Street)" to begin, I also spotlight crazy white people, or just anybody who irritates me or makes me smile, or whatever the fuck I feel like doing that day.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you for a fact that most of these guys are hooked up with Thresholds, Ezra multi-service center, O.N.E. or many other places that featuring average looking women with beerguts, cheap messenger bags, and a seventies-style bush that has never, ever been trimmed, not even once.
They are taking money and services away from people who really need them, all they really need is a swift kick in the ass and get left naked in Mexico with no bus fare.

I like how these salespeople are all young Courtneys but the actual workers at the bank are LaShawns/NWA's and Pedro's you can't understand. Do they not think we see through this shit? I literally gave Courtney a "talk to the hand". Never did it before.
You cannot walk 20' in this town without at least 2 people in your face for something. Everybody "needs" something here. A lighter, a cigarette, "just a quarter", join our club, come to our bar, vote for my brother (just because he's my brother).

ReplyDeleteIn the past few years I've noticed the advent of young, white youths begging in the Loop area. They always have cardboard signs written in with magic marker claiming to be stranded. I wonder whats up with that? Up until recently most of the panhandlers have been stereotypical types, homeless alcoholics, usually black. Some bozos have set up shop at some spots and bring their own chairs or milk crates to sit on all day while they ply their trade, as if those spots were their personal franchises.

The stranded youth in the Loop came with the influx of the NATO summit. The "Free Movement" came into town, realized was WAY overpowered, and left with their tail between their legs. Some of the 'left-overs' are the dread-head kids with their dogs in tow. You see them migrating towards the Damen/Milwaukee/North Ave 6-corner in the evenings. I REALLY don't have much respect for most of these people. Being that I only have a high-school education, I've worked my ass off all my life (sometimes having 3 jobs) to get where I am today cruising along over 55K a year.

They litter everywhere and we have a serious rat problem as it is! People should be fined for giving them money or food. Last week a black woman was out begging out side of Trader Joe's with her 3 kids..if that isn't child abuse what is?

Yes, bless those truly in need but not these CON ARTIST! Many are ex-cons just out of the joint that continue to con..Its a life style. I saw a documentary on the homeless in Chicago. After some collect enough of fools sucker money they purchase drugs on the south & west side. Keep that in mind next time you get a wave of compassion. If people would stop giving in to them & quit supporting their habits with donations then at last.. they shall get out of the area. It is time to take panhandlers serious & crack down on them. Panhandlers are not only creating a filthy mess on our streets, but they are often very dangerous individuals. Many commit crimes, especially by hotels, train stations & tourist destinations. A tourist standing out side a down town hotel was recently robbed by homeless men. What kind of global advertisements are these panhandlers? The Mayor wants to attract tourism & yet we have these nasty, unsightly con artist on every corner shaking us down. How can one enjoy this once beautiful city with all the aggressive panhandlers one has to try to avoid but can't?..The bottom line...NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE AGGRESSIVE LITTERING PANHANDLERS THAT ARE HELPING TO BRING THIS CITY DOWN!
ReplyDeleteKEEP CHICAGO CLEAN!..that was on signs & garbage cans when I was a kid. What the hell has happened? I have never seen Chicago more dirty, filthy & littered. Chicago is a mess! There is litter every where! One night I was walking on Michigan Ave & in front of me was a group of young black women. As they walked on they threw litter in all the beautiful planters on Michigan Ave. It made me sick. I felt like running after them and saying..Hey you dropped something..but they would have jumped me, so I declined. Between the mobs of feckless & feral characters & panhandlers..man does this once great city suck! It had a chance at one time..but is it too late?

Donald Trump had some mean things to say about Chicago crime lately, yet he thinks the area by Trump Towers is OK. I know people who live in the area and they think panhandlers have only gotten worse. Trump Towers is a draw. The panhandlers beg and drink all night. They party, scream, fight and wake people up at all hours. They leave their food and litter behind. This scenario continues every night. Nothing is being done to address this problem.

If some people would put on plastic gloves & get rid of the crates..or have Streets & Sanitation dump the crates..it might inconvenience panhandlers & send a message. Certain States have laws that forbid panhandlers from sitting & laying down...but allow them to stand.

They are not hungry, they panhandle or rob because they cannot purchase 40 oz. Steele reserve malt liquor with the link card. They get better medical services than any of us because anytime they get sick the cfd ambulance has to take them to the er, where doctors and nurses give them top of the line treatment at the expense of our tax dollars. NEATO! Since you use the word 'most' I'm assuming you actually used statistics when you informed the readers that most street people aren't even homeless? Or that MOST of Chicago's vagrant community (those street beggars who might have a home) are actually considered chronic homeless, going in and out of stable housing on a regular basis.

Yeah women are REALLY taking advantage of the system when you consider "92 percent of homeless mothers were victims of physical or sexual assault."
25% of Chicago's homeless are children, and I agree that 4 year-olds who are addicted to drugs are TOTALLY annoying and just taking advantage of tax payers, dudes.
It's funds not drugs according to the Urban Institute: "Research identifies the lack of affordable housing as the primary cause of homelessness among families in the United States." Homeless families account for about 65% of Chicago's homeless.
This is not journalism, it is not researched, it is not based in fact. It is based on the brief observations of an ignorant person, supported by the many ignorant reader comments. You didn't talk to these people, you didn't talk to anyone who works with the community. You writer, video poster, shame this site when you call your antics news.
You didn't follow these people around all day and watch them stand in line at a soup kitchen, get charged a fee to stay the night at one of the limited number of shelters available in the city, you didn't meet with their state appointed doctors trying to treat them for mental health issues, or mental and physical disabilities, or join them on a job interview where maybe they try to explain WHY the felony they committed 20 years ago should not keep them from getting any type of employment. You didn't work at a school where some of the regular beggars from Michigan Avenue come to pick their kids up so they can be dropped off at a family shelter for the night while their fathers, who aren't allowed to sleep at the family shelter, work night gigs as the low paid bottom man in the drug trade, or gambling rings, because no one else will hire them, because you, YOU writer and readers, you know you would never hire any of the people in these pictures, so how can you expect anyone else to?

I see a lot of people complaining, I see very few try to change things. The first step in changing things is to get a better understanding of the problem. You want to understand the problem, follow it around for a day and see how AWESOME it is to be a street beggar.
If you don't care and you just want to mock people for their hard times, I hope that Karma follows you and that you will find yourself in their shoes soon enough. When that happens, just remember that most soup kitchens only operate one meal a day, only certain days of the week, that vagrancy is a crime not a vacation so you'll need to balance your begging with avoiding police issues, and that male on male sexual assault is higher amongst the homeless than it is in prison.

ReplyDeleteTo the one who posted the thesis on the homeless- there is a big difference between being a lifelong addicted drunken bum who assaults the public and people who have lost a home, or are in financial dire straits, or the working poor -those who have jobs and want employment but can only get low wage/no benefits positions and still cannot afford the basics in life. I don't believe anyone is referencing these people. The bums we are referring to (most are ex-felon gangbangers by the way) are those who chose very early in life to run the streets and sell dope, make some easy money, hang on the corner all hours of the night, fight with police, and infest the community. If they make it to the age of 50 without being killed by a rival, they retire on Michigan ave looking for spare change, and/or attacking the elderly/women if the need arises. And yes, they collect ssi too, even though they haven't paid a dime in federal income tax. The rest are in cycles of on again, off again psych meds and have no continuous medical supervision to keep them functioning in normal society.

It's just we all have compassion fatigue. We see the same, pathetic, broken down black guys, a few white guys, fewer latinos and almost never anybody of another race, year after year, never getting better.
They come at us hard and aggressive everywhere we go, although we may barely have enough money for ourselves, they guilt trip and manipulate us and project pure desperation our way, even with this new Panera Cares bullshit they still want, want, want mere few away from there.
They are professional victims, they expect sustenance to waft down to them and not pursue it in any legitimate way or form, even working 10x harder on the con rather than just doing what they need to do.
So, how the fuck are we supposed to feel?
In my hometown of South Bend, Indiana, The University of Notre Dame, secretly in conjunction with the now-defunct Madison Center, opened up a blocks-wide shelter named "The Center for the Homeless" in the 1990's. Within a short span of time, it became very hard to be downtown, patronize businesses, go to the library, etc, because there was such a massive influx of unstable homeless people begging, stealing, hurting, harming, etc. A visit to Taco Bell on the edge of Lincolnway West near the South Bend Tribune, one usually was interrupted by somebody sitting down with you insisting on you buying them a meal or wanting money. Fast forward to today, many businesses have packed up and left downtown South Bend, as well as a major hospital, which moved to Mishawaka, nearby. Madison Center is now defunct due to Medicaid Fraud, but the CFH remains. South Bend is now on Wall Street Journal's top ten list of dying cities. Chicago is much larger, but there are more homeless than ever, and the "normal" folks are just being overlooked in favor of these men and women, many of whom are more than capable of taking care of themselves, but choose not to in this climate of mild to moderate socialism.
