Hyde Park: Woman maced during attempted robbery

A woman was attacked and sprayed with mace or pepper spray during an attempted robbery in Chicago's South Side Hyde Park neighborhood.

The crime occurred Wednesday, August 8, 2012, between 4:22 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the 5000 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, near Woodlawn and East 50th Street, said the University of Chicago Police Department.

Two unknown female offenders sprayed the victim with a debilitating chemical agent, struck the victim, and tried to take the victim's purse, said authorities.

At the time of this report, the female thugs were still at large.
