According to police dispatch, the shooting happened at 4752 North Winthrop Avenue, near Lawrence and Winthrop.
4733 North Winthrop was also listed as a possible crime scene.
Investigators said 20-year-old Edward Clark was shot in the head on the 4700 block of North Winthrop Avenue.
Clark was dead when police arrived.
At 2:54 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department, who seemed to be under the impression there was a second shooting victim, consulted with police.
Police verified that only person was shot on the 4700 block of North Winthrop Avenue.
It appears the victim was shot during a drive-by shooting.
Sad but at least they didn't hit a mailbox, car door, bathroom window or innocent bystander this time.

ReplyDeleteThis was a gang related retaliation shooting. While police were still on the scene there were 4 more incidents of gun fire within hearing distance of Winthrop and Lawrence. Police were heard reporting the incidents to police dispatch.

I can walk from my "nice" neighborhood West of Broadway but the last 2 blocks to the lakefront are a warzone along the "Kenmore/Winthrop Corridor" (that is listed prominently in Chicago "history" writings).
