Angry readers have worked the last nerve of a group of Chicago bloggers.
A certain North Side neighborhood Facebook page is on fire - and not in a good way.
It seems the rash of shootings in Uptown, as well as a recent article printed by Chicago Magazine, have pitted white residents against black residents.
Several black readers have openly accused some of the blog's more rational readers of finger-pointing and racism.
In response to the racial allegations, one of the blog's administrators threatened to delete their readers' Facebook comments and report certain readers to the police.
"Any post that tells anyone else to STFU will be deleted. Ditto for calling someone racist. It shouldn't have to be said, but no threats. They will be turned into Facebook AND to the Chicago Police."
One Uptown resident was so furious with the Uptown blog, she said she wants their Facebook page deleted.
"I hope they shut this damn page down this is outrageous how people just blog about untrue facts," said someone who was logged in under the name Kieyana Davis.
Blacks can't handle the truth. They comitt the crime, but live in a state of denial, and god forbid whites or anyone else starts calling them out; you then will be labled a racist.

UU has been the comment police for a long time. Around the time helen schiller stepped down and several alderman announced their intentions to run for her position, they seemed to change their whole blog. They got very serious about policing the comments section.

wow they are really raging on their FB page. people making crazy comments with their real identity and family/friends/work info seems like a bad combination. they could feel some actual backlash.

ReplyDeleteReally a mess you've got going on in this city. All over. It's been 5 years and I can't count the number of truly warped, f'd up people I've encountered. A few - few - good ones, however.
ReplyDeleteChicago exacerbates depression. It's not just me. I see the faces and activities of those that have lived here upwards of 20 years. Sad. Anyone over 50 looks 83 compared to where I'm from. The day I get back home I will feel born again I'm sure.
And as a side note, what the hell are those people trying to accomplish in that Uptown by staying there and complaining all the time?
A friend of mine has been blacklisted in his industry and cannot find work for three years because he was labeled as a racist in a discussion forum of his peers. Calling someone a racist in public should be a crime.
ReplyDeleteNor was I raised to be racist (or consider myself a racist). As a matter of fact, the slightest intimation of racial inequity I ever heard as a child was from my grandfather, who told me in the 1970's that I needed to do well in school because "the indians and asiatics are very intelligent and are poised to take over the economy" I wasn't sure what that meant at the time, but he was right. I went to college and paid for it myself, making sacrifices and postponing family plans until I knew I could support them and provide as a father (financially and emotionally). I watch basketball games in which the "most valued player" can barely give an interview at a third-grade level. Now they all act like ghetto thugs whilst making millions of dollars. The music suck, but somehow "wins" awards....people like Al sharpton are propped-up in front of a camera and allowed to speak at 1/3 the rate other correspondents (use your stop watch if you dont believe me, he's slow). So I could go on and on forever, but you get the idea: Blacks are self-segregating and will quickly degenerate into their african ancestral behavior if left to their own devices. The entire city of Detroit is now collapsed and needs to be overhauled by and "emergency manager" like a CEO who takes over a failed company. We keep throwing money at the problem, and they keep getting more emboldened, entitled, audacious and violent. The writing is on the wall, and the "Diversity" they hold so dear also leads to immigration from other countries who will simply not put-up with this crap nor should they as they have no moral obligation to do so with no connection to slavery and the baggage associated with it. I know I don't - nor did any of MY ancestors who came to America, long after slavery.

ReplyDeleteUptown was a run down area before with all the winos and down-on-their-luck types but it wasn't particularly hazardous to the average person. Section eight brought in all the worst blacks along with their friends and now we've got all these muggers, predators, bullets flying around, and so on. All the PC in the world can't hide reality, it can only try to shut people up.
At least in Detroit you can understand what they're saying, bud. I'm not defending that city but there are some very, very classy, educated, articulate Blacks there. They've usually moved onto the suburbs there and have integrated, assimilated quite well. I know many of them. I've known NONE in this Chicagoland. Really, I have to just hang up the phone at work on them sometimes. I haven't a clue what they're saying. It's some southern slant with ebonics thrown in and Chicago slang too. Same on the street. I just ignore them. Even if I wanted to help them, I couldn't figure out what they want nor need.

It's always the Blacks crying racism. If you are that offended with people being fed up with your criminal activity, get it together. Get yourself involved in your community and start making a difference. Learn to mix in with others and not be a bunch of loud fools. If you have cousins or family members involved in criminal activities, rat them out. You are not doing anyone a favor by protecting them. And don't expect the government to support you, get it together and go find a job. I know it is easier said than done but it's not an impossibility. And please stop blaming the White folks for your failures, it's getting old. Every time you are crying racism, you are crying wolf and in the meantime there is a TRUE violent racist act taking place. Section 8 really disgusts me. I know there are people who REALLY need assistance, such as the elderly and handicapped. However, people receiving section 8 are twenty something years old with five kids taking advantage of the system. They are ghetto lazy people who don't want to work and expect a handout for each kid. Common sense, don't have children if you cannot provide for yourself. Of course, these people don't know any better. Shame on them.

ReplyDeleteI grew up in Detroit suburbs, and the shit going down in Uptown wouldn't be tolerated in any burb, or in most of the city. Except in the completely written-off sections of the city proper, the Uptown thugs would get rounded up by the cops & their heads cracked within hours. The only way they wouldn't make it to the police station is when they get shot by a law abiding citizen with a CCW the first time they tried to jack someone.
I've said it before on here & will say it again - Detroit (which means all of SE MI) has more than its share of problems, but this is NOT one of them. The decent people that live there would never tolerate it, and that includes the black communities.

Sweeping the crimes being committed here by all these ghetto thugs in EVERY neighborhood under the carpet, is not working and has NEVER worked. Forcing "integration" on people who DO NOT want it keeps the racial divide going and in fact, makes it wider. Continuing to NOT monitor who is getting into Sec 8 and not enforcing the rules & regulations creates animosity by those who are contributing to these handouts through our tax dollars. Not inspecting the SRO's for building code violations as well as checking for felons, repeat offenders, warrant jumpers and pedophiles only creates a hiding place for criminals and lets slumlords get away with housing them. Apathy is a curse that lets criminals recruit more ghetto thugs to inflict their urban terrorism on the innocent.

Black people are now above criticism for some insane reason. No matter how bad they act, you can't call them out on Everyblock or Uptown Update or anything. ReplyDeleteAnon @ 12:46am - I don't get it either but based on my dealings with many in this city over 6 years - somebody's getting paid in some way or another over it whether it be rallying for the continuance of violence or $1.6 million in funds allotted to a "community center" to combat the spread of HIV specifically by black and hispanic bisexual men (that actually need help in identifying their sexuality or to just quit f'ing). I can't support this crap here anymore, and won't.
Now quit complaining about this crime here because "it's a big city and these things just happen" (and as long as they believe that, I'll let them know that I don't want to hear about the drop of value upwards of $90K in their condos value over 5 years while armed robbers are on their street and ---- "just happen").

Racism goes away when people stop attacking people for their race. A white person is responsible for themself and their kids not all white people. A black person is responsible for themself their kids not all black people.
I'm not sure what forced integration you are talking about. Section 8? No one forced anyone to integrate. I understand your frustration but your constant hateful comments don't help. You want things to get better right? Look for solutions. Saying ghetto thugs and "the blacks" doesn't really get anyone anywhere.

All the programs and help, all the volunteers and efforts made will NEVER change the mentality of these ghetto thugs unless they make the effort as well. It has, however, created a prejudice within me and my partner that we NEVER had. I did not create that. I HATE ghetto thugs of ALL colors. With them, love is NOT the answer.
At what point do I start working on solutions? You don't know me. You don't have a clue what I have done to work on solutions. How about this. Mentoring, tutoring, volunteering with after school programs. I started the CA meetings in this city in 1987. Don't talk to me about solutions. It hasn't worked. Sure, maybe it works for a while but ultimately, it starts at home and if that isn't in the equation, nothing works. The gangs and the streets take over. I no longer participate in "solutions" because it's tiring and time consuming with little results.
I am fully aware of whites contributing to the drug industry but who are the people robbing and mugging people to get their next fix or hit? On Thorndale, the little bangers are waiting for the WORKING people to get off the L to score but they seem to just pass these dealers by without even a glance. It's the Sec8 and SRO people I see hitting up these bangers for drugs.
In my city, it isn't the Gays, Muslims, Jews or any other ethnicity other then blacks who are terrorizing us all on a daily basis EVERYWHERE. You can sugar coat it all you want but the facts right in front of your eyes.

It exists. When I was at University of Chicago (15 years ago) we would go to MLK drive and buy bags of blow, heroin, pills for parties from all these guys. We were at a top tier college.

A few months back I was at the park on Bryn Mawr with my kids. There were a few other middle class families with kids. A teenager I assumed was a gang banger was sitting on a bench talking on a phone..baseball cap, black, jeans low. While playing, chasing a kid a hit my face and but my nose and was bleeding everywhere.
Not one of these families helped me while I was trying to get two kids in a stroller with blood going everywhere.
This guy came over gave me a napkin and a bottle of water and was like, "Are you ok, here take this".
I don't know why they are trying to apply all these feel-good psychological principles to these useless fucking niggers over at Nigtown Update.

Most of the people attacking UU on their Facebook page are the same people the site tries so hard not to offend. No matter how hard UU tries, these people will find something to be upset about. SOMETHING will always end up hurting their feelings, and they will attack.
Now all sorts of new rules had to be made, and the Moderators are essentially working a 2nd job enforcing them. All this because they reposted a story from a MAGAZINE.
Just let them be mad and complain! Eventually they will stop and go away. When you change your website every time someone gets butthurt, it will be an endless cycle of complaints and new rules, while the original purpose of the blog gets lost...
