Cops: Thieves stock up at North Side Aldi

Aldi’s deliciously low prices weren’t enough to stop two shoplifters from stealing a cartload of food, said police.

Around 9:24 a.m., a theft was reported at the West Ridge, West Rogers Park grocery store at 6220 North California Avenue.

Investigators said two male offenders stole a basket full of food.

According to eyewitnesses, the thoughtful bandits used their own cart to haul their loot.

Both suspects were described as male blacks.

One crook is in his 30s, approximately 5’5”, with a bald head. Police said he was wearing a black jacket with a yellow horizontal stripe on the back.

The second offender is 6’2” with a heavy build. He was wearing a brown jacket and a brown fur hat with floppy ears on it.

Investigators found what they believed to be the taller offender’s hat in a nearby alley.

As of 10 a.m., there was no indication any arrests had been made.

    I've shopped in many different Aldi's around here, but that one on California has always had creepier customers than some in some really poor neighborhoods.

    Went to that one on Broadway in "Uptown" - ONCE! Picked a few items and dumped them. Sorry but I have better things to do than wait in a line behind 20 other people with ONE cashier or get jacked in the parking lot UNDER the L tracks and BEHIND the store. Scary. And I've been to the East side of Detroit.

    Aldi is a german company and their corporate dudes are a bunch of 6'-5" german henchmen. They should pay this store a visit and go all nazi on that shit.

    Wonder if they were stealing the stuff for their own use or resold it to one of the small Arab grocery stores in the ghetto areas.
