Violence continues to explode in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood after more shots were fired Sunday around 4 a.m.
An hour after the shooting, police were holding down a crime scene at Wilson and Broadway, and guarding a second possible crime scene at Leland and Broadway.
Residents who heard the shooting report multiple shots fired in the area.
Around 5:22 a.m., it appeared officers were checking on possible shooting victim’s at Illinois Masonic Hospital and at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Uptown.
Uptown's ongoing and escalating violence is reportedly tied to a vicious drug turf war.
UPDATE: Around 4:15 a.m., a man sitting in his car on the 4600 block of North Broadway was shot in his left side, reports the Chicago Tribune.

CNR, why is all this happening in Uptown. I hear it is over gang turf ? This intersection where these shootings are happening were just until recently nice shopping districts and I felt safe in this area. When did this savages move in and destroy Uptown????
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 7:51 - you're joking right?! Uptown a 'nice shopping district'?? Uptown has always been home to the ignorant, 'take the easy way out', live off of taxpayer gang bangers.
ReplyDelete^^^ I have lived in Uptown since the early 90s. Wilson and Broadway and Wilson and Sheridan have always been dicey.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the years, I have seen black men openly selling drugs at those intersections. On many occasions, this activity was going on in full view as a police cars drove by.
Anon, gangs make their money through drug sales. When there is not enough territory to go around, or more than one gang is fighting for control over the same spot, all hell breaks loose.
Trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet!
I wonder if the dumb asses at UU still think calling the cops every time someone farts is going to change their shitty neighborhood. LOL
ReplyDelete"CNR, why is all this happening in Uptown?"
ReplyDeleteMoney/drugs.
Anonymous December 11, 2011 8:01 a.m., I couldn't have said it any better.
The Uptown Update people seem to think that "diversity" is some kind of lofty goal. Well they got their "diversity." They can now hide in their homes while their "diverse" nigger neighbors are out on the streets shooting.
ReplyDeletePer the map at the link below, Sheridan and Wilson is on the line between GD and CVL territory. Apparently something (undoubtedly something stupid) caused the violence between the two to flare-up.
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can remember Uptown has not been a good neighborhood. During the housing bubble some had hoped the area would gentrify, but it did't really gain traction. Now with the economy in decline, that won't happen. Those that bought housing hoping Uptown would turn aroung like Wicker Park or Bucktown, lost the bet.
give everyone a gun, clear the area of the bad dudes ,declare open season on them.
ReplyDelete@7:51...you must be from some suburb or small town. OR you are being sarcastic!!!!Uptown has always been drug and gang infested. It's Always been the place where the homeless roam....
ReplyDeleteThe current mindset to defend blacks amongst Uptown yuppies no matter how horrible and how low they sink is suicidal and needs to fucking stop right now.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time reading this blog. Just wanted to say while I agree with most of the comments listed, I'm offended by the person using the N-word. I grew up in the uptown area from the late 70s to the early 90s. I use to be a great place to live before drugs took over. While the gang culture is present, don't be mistaken in thinking this is about drugs. It's more of just gang rivalry. Most of the crime from the black youths are committed by people that reside outside of uptown and has always been. Just because a few idiots are in that lifestyle does speak for the 98% of the black community that are law abiding citizens.
ReplyDeleteUptown Update's readers only care about coddling blacks, Terra Cotta and yuppie-fying the neighborhood, decent chain restaurants and decent chains stores and other enjoyable things are unwelcome.
ReplyDeleteThey are some of the most delusional, annoying fucks in all of Chicagoland. Your neighborhood is nigger hell and you all eat the shit out of each other's asses. Go fuck yourselves.
wow....first time on this site.....after reading comments...last time on this site.
