South Shore shooting on Essex Ave.

Police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood.

At approximately 8:24 a.m., citizens reported shots fired on the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue.

Around 8:29 a.m., police confirmed a man was shot.

A black male offender with dreadlocks, wearing a gray jacket, shot the victim and fled the scene in a black two-door vehicle, said police.

In addition to the shooting victim's injuries, three cars were damaged by gunfire, said authorities.

A preliminary report indicated the shooting victim was in serious, but stable condition at Stroger Hospital.

  1. Thats odd the "victim" was just turning his life around by getting his GED and attending church. He had "a few" run ins with the poleeces in the past but that was it.
