The address belongs to a business called The Market Place Food Store.
The three black men, one armed with a gun, stole money from a safe and $50 to $60 worth of coins from the grocer, said police.
According to officials, the store clerk was so shaken by the experience, investigators could barely get a description of the offenders.
So far, all I know is that the crooks were wearing all dark, or possibly dark green clothing.
The suspects were last seen running eastbound on Diversey.
A witness reportedly saw the men getting into a gold-colored car.

ReplyDeleteSticking up a grocery store like that at gunpoint is really a hardcore crime. Those are some career predators.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with this huge wave of crime by blacks in this city? The main two papers seem to muzzle the news, downplay it or don't report it altogether. When they do run a story about black crime they often disable the comment section. I guess they think it's their job to manipulate the perceptions of the public rather than to just lay out the facts.
Pete, It's all about "perception"..heck, this is a "world class tourist" destination and we can't have the tourists thinking it's a crime ridden city being taken over by ghetto thugs. Better to protect the almighty dollar than it's citizens. All these ghetto thugs are hardcore. "gimme gimme gimme, take take take" that's all they know. I think the new Chief from Jersey is gonna kick some ass and it's about time and Rahm better give him what he needs to do it. These ghetto thugs are out of control in EVERY neighborhood in this city and need to be put in jail for ANY infraction so you, me and the tourists can walk around without fear!

Yeah I have a relative that works at this location and was inside when the robbery occurred. Yes people there were very shaken up over this. It's a sad situation and a way to prove the racists right! Lincoln Park, Gold Coast and other good Near North/Northside neighborhoods have seen a spike in assaults/robberies recently- with 94% of the offenders are from outside areas. That sucks!! Anyways, from what I hear the police have pretty good leads on these suspects.

I Google'd this report as soon as my relative told me about it last night and Chicago News Report was the first outlet on it (even though I had no time to comment, had to rush from Edgewater to Lincoln Park to pick up my relative). Now I get to see all the other reported incidents that *cough* "ChicagoBreakingNews" *cough* refuse to report. GOOD JOB, CNR!!

ReplyDeleteChicago Breaking News is notorious for turning off the comments feature when they run a story about black criminals. Sad.
When I lived nearby, I shopped this store all the time. Certainly surprised by the news... since it doesn't really strike me as that lucrative of a target for burglary. It's a higher end grocery store than Jewel, true, but it's often busy & doesn't strike me as a place where people spend CASH... more of a credit/debit card clientele there.

BTW, this blog would be better with more recent updates.
In many news reports they never give the description of the offenders why is that. Is that being fair and unbiased? It drives me crazy that they would push their liberal agenda over public safety???? I have been a policemen for 17 years and the citizens of this City have no idea what goes on in and around their neighborhoods. I can not wait to leave
