A female Chicago police officer reported a brazen and somewhat bizarre assault on a busy downtown street.

The incident occurred around 6:32 p.m. at the intersection of West Van Buren Street and South Financial Place - steps away from the Dunkin Donuts at 400 South Financial Place.

According to the officer at the scene, a white man wearing a black suit and a red scarf, approached another man’s car and tried to punch the driver through the window. Then, the driver exited his vehicle and began to wrestle with the pedestrian.

“He’s beating him!”, said the female officer over her police radio.

It isn’t clear what started the downtown brawl, but the man in the black suit appeared to intoxicated, said the officer at the scene.

The man in the black suit and red scarf, was last seen walking southbound on Financial Place, then eastbound on Congress Parkway.

It’s unclear if an arrest was made.

  1. People aren't safe in their cars either. Now, besides carjackings, drivers have to worry about someone coming up to their car and starting a fight? Foolish for the driver to have gotten out of his car though.
