27-year-old Brayant Rogers of 4425 North Malden Street in Uptown, failed to make his momma proud when he was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 23-year-old Brian Green. You see, on January 4, 2011, around 12:30 p.m., Rogers apparently had nothing better to do with his time, so he (allegedly) walked up to a van and started shooting. Brian Green, the driver of the van, suffered multiple gunshots wounds and died from his injures. The passenger in van was shot in the hand.
After the shooting, Town Hall District cops in the area saw Rogers slithering away from the intersection of Wilson and Magnolia, followed his trail, and adorned him with a nice shiny pair of handcuffs. And we all know how much so-called gangsters love their bling!
As flippant as I am being about this shooting - don't be mistaken - I am outraged and utterly disgusted. In the flash of a bullet, a life was taken and many people felt the repercussions.
This may sound a bit vitriolic, but if Rogers is guilty, instead of giving birth to him, his mother should have had a V-8.
So is 4425 N. Malden an SRO or Section 8? Also, anyone mention a motive for the shooting? Was the victim up to no good as well? I am just hoping this is not becoming a trend of random acts of violence against innocent civilians.
ReplyDeleteI just answered my own first question. According to Google Maps that appears to be one of those new affordable housing units crammed into the vacant lot that was next door to the apartment building where Helen Schiller lives (used to live back in 1987 when she was elected).
It's actually a sec8, according to comments on the UptownUpdate. It's really a shame this is happening more & more. Again, "wherever you go there you are" and placing all these sec8 housing all over the city has created this. What a complete failure that plan was.If this keeps up and gets even worse, The black leaders who cried segregation about where the sec8's/projects used to be a few years ago won't have to worry, there will be "white flight" just like what happened in Detroit and than where will these ghetto thugs be when there's no one paying property taxes in the city to give them their sec8?
ReplyDelete"A V8"? Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteLakefront, I was told the person who was shot in the hand, repeatedly told cops at the scene that Rogers was a complete stranger and had no idea why he shot them. But others have said the van driven by Green, was used in other shootings in Uptown.
ReplyDeletetowanda, there has to be a way to sue section-8 housing buildings with violent residents. Those places are a cancer in the community, and if the good citizens are going to survive, that cancer needs to be removed!
ReplyDeleteAs far black leaders are concerned, most of them are a joke! The moment a white person says something "racially offensive" they are all over it. But when someone like Rogers (allegedly) murders someone in cold blood, they have nothing to say.
Wonder what this ghetto thugs record looks like? I also think the SEC8 housing across this city NOW has created a far bigger mess than they had before they tore all the projects down because police are running everywhere now. if the CHA would do a better job of policing their buildings, the lowlife's wouldn't be allowed to be in them. I still think ALL landlords should also be held accountable for their tenants..period. There is a law on the books about that very thing. To enforce the law, neighbors have to document the buildings lowlife with times, dates and pictures of the comings & goings of dealers, known gang members and prostitutes. By doing that, it goes on record as being a "problem" building and the landlord is notified...fix the problem or get a fine or lose your building. BUT as we all know, tons of laws in this city are NEVER enforced..
ReplyDeleteThere was another shooting in Uptown today. it happened around 4 pm on the 4500 block of North Magnolia. A 25-year-old man was shot and is serious condition. I'm guessing that shooting was in response to yesterday's foolishness.
ReplyDeleteThis crap will never end.
I bet you're right. The last gang shooting last year where someone died also had retaliation. I feel bad for the people who live on that street and guess what..there are KNOWN gang hang outs and several SEC8's around there. It might be beneficial for the residents to pool their money and hire a private security company for their own safety.
ReplyDeleteTo everyone who felt the need to comment on this article about my brother, you can all go to hell.none of you know anything about him or his character..as for the writer, i wish i could sit down face to face with you and give you a piece of my mind..there are many things i would live to say to you that you dont want to hear..i guess seeig as how my mother stayed in housing that just automatically makes people gang bangers and drug dealers..its nice to know that so i guess im a gang bangef or drug dealer too..people shouldn't speak on people or situations they haven't the first clue about in any type of way...fyi my brother is far from a "ghetto thug" as this towanda character so freely refered to him as.my brother is a good man he just made a poor decision of "friends" that unfortunatly got him caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time and got accused of something..oh but im sure thats what you all always hear..i dont expect or really care if anyone here believes me or has anythig to say back..i just wanted to speak up for my loving brother..so f**k off and have a good day..
