Chicago Police Officer Hit with a Brick in Austin Neighborhood

Early this morning, officers requested additional units after a Chicago police officer was hit in the leg with a brick on Chicago's west side.

The incident occurred on the 1500 block of North LeClaire Ave., in the Austin community.

After hitting the officer with a brick, the offender ran into an apartment building at 1509 N. LeClaire Ave.

Around 3:10 a.m., police announced that one person was in custody. The arrested offender was taken away in an ambulance.

Based on the information we have, the officer was not seriously injured.
