Attempted Robbery at Bryn Mawr Train Station in Edgewater

UPDATE  Around 3:30 a.m., a man at the CTA Bryn Mawr train station, 1119 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., became the victim of an apparent, attempted robbery.

While at the Bryn Mawr station, the victim said an African-American man with braided hair, wearing a black, Rocawear jacket, stuck a gun in his side and demanded his money.

The jacket the offender was wearing may look similar to the one in the photo.

Somehow, the complainant managed to get away, and fled to the Walgreens at 5625 N. Ridge, where he asked the staff to call police.

No one is in custody.

At 5:28 a.m., a Walgreens employee called police to report a lost wallet. Police believe the wallet belongs to the man who ran into Walgreens asking for help.

NOTE: Thanks to a very astute reader, it was brought to my attention that this offender's description matches the description of a man who stabbed a woman in Edgewater on September 1, 2010. You can read that story by clicking HERE.
