The incident happened on the 2700 block of North Sheffield Avenue, between Diversey and Schubert, around 6 p.m.
A black male wearing a white or gray Martin Luther King Jr. t-shirt, struck a woman in the head with a brick, said police.
According to authorities, prior to the assault, the attacker never said a word to the victim and the attack was unprovoked.
The assailant, who has short hair and is 30 to 35-years-old, was last seen walking southbound on Sheffield.
Citing an unconfirmed source, the offender may live in a 5th floor apartment in the CHA building at 2640 North Sheffield.
At the time of this report, the extent of the victim’s injuries were unclear.
However, an ambulance was called to the scene.
