According to a disturbing police dispatch report, an East Lakeview neighborhood man killed his dog in a fit of anger.
Citing police communications, at approximately 3:43 a.m., a distraught man dialed 911 after he beat his dog to death and stuffed the animal’s remains in the trunk of his car on the 500 block of West Roscoe Street, near Roscoe and Broadway.
The man said he wanted to meet the cops at a nearby North Side Starbucks, said police dispatch.
At 4:13 a.m., a police officer was instructed to secure an open garage at the address where the alleged animal abuser's car was parked.
Authorities later identified the 911 caller as 25-year-old Derek Fierro, a Eugene Field Elementary School teacher.
Investigators said Fierro admitted to punching his dog, Queso, to death.
The obviously troubled school teacher adopted the dog from the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation back in October 2011.

ReplyDeleteThe majority of the people in this city have absolutely NO business having a dog. They are not trained. They did not take them to obedience classes. They do not know commands. They do not heel/they did not teach them how to walk - the dogs are walking them. The owners are flat-out self-absorbed assholes.
ReplyDeleteOne just moved in next door to me. It's some toy-breed that isn't fully grown and about as big as a rat. She thinks it's cute to let it run free in the common areas. Once I almost stepped on it and the other time I almost tripped over it. Another time my dog nearly took it by the neck while it was scurrying around us and I was unlocking the door. That's when I lost it with that silly ass bitch. I told her to train that dog early and she'll have less problems in the future and it will be your friend for a long time. I'm sure she could care less and will give it away or probably kill it when she's tired of it or it becomes more than she can handle or out of fashion.
That's how these things happen. Dumb, stupid, ignorant, self-absorbed wannabe's.
P.S. And when you leave for the day (up to and including 14 hours) with your dog alone this entire time barking out the open window, that's how they learn to be disobedient and start having behavioral problems. Furthermore, you lose respect from your neighbors. One threatened to throw a brick at it. This problem is abundant in the 3 neighborhoods I've lived on this lakefront. Most of the offenders were silly as bitches.
It's possible, considering the location of the crime, this incident was the result of a drug laced fit of rage but probably not.
News media are reporting the dog killer is an elementary school teacher.

ReplyDeleteWe have a dog in our building that literally cries when it is left alone. One time the UPS guy was dropping off a package and heard this thing, he asked if "everything was ok?" This guy literally thought someone was abusing an animal in their apartment...

DeleteJust curious as to how this happened at 3am on a "school night". Teacher? Both should have been sleeping (dogs usually follow suit) but maybe he knew Rayvon Smith or whatever the drug dealer/guys name is that stole the laptop there but "everybody in the neighborhood knew him and they don't understand why that happened".

ReplyDeleteThis is a sad sad story..for both man & dog. Man's best friend became the dog's worse enemy. The chap is a handsome young guy, a teacher for goodness sake! Perhaps he snapped due to mental health issues or drugs. He did show remorse & turned himself in. He could have covered it up. His life can never be the same. He destroyed his dog & his career.
ReplyDeleteIt's hilarious the way people keep saying he's white. He's hispanic. He's also adorable. But if you live in the 500 block of Roscoe you are going to be victim to a certain lifestyle. What school teacher is coming home at 3am and killing the dog while giving it a bath? I for some reason feel sorry for him considering he actually called police to turn himself in.
