Around 9:26 p.m., a Chicago police officer reported at robbery victim at North Michigan Avenue and East Oak Street.
Citing police communications, the victim was leaving Oak Street Beach, 1000 North Lake Shore Drive, when he was robbed in a nearby tunnel.
The suspects were described as a “band” of black males wearing dark-colored clothing and dreadlocks.
One source indicated there were at least six black males involved in the robbery.
Approximately 10 minutes later, around 9:38 p.m., another officer in the area spotted a group of black males running southbound, toward Michigan Avenue, from the same tunnel where the victim was robbed.
Based on police communications, it appears the second officer had no idea a crime had just occurred in the area, and there was no indication any effort was made to apprehend the suspects.
At the time of this report, the muggers were still on the loose.
While snooping around Facebook.com, Chicago News Report found a video of black mobs passing through the same tunnel were Saturday’s robbery occurred.
Although there is no violence in the video, we think this footage should serve as a reminder of just how dangerous that particular tunnel can be.

ReplyDeleteThat tunnel has the ugliest mural, at the beach end, that was painted there last year. Horrible and creepy looking, it should be painted over with something aesthetically pleasing.

A cop spotted a group of black males running downtown and didn't know a crime just occurred? They should have been arrested on the spot anyway for that alone. What did he think? They all had diahrrea at the same time and had to find a bathroom? You're doomed.

You can go to the sporting events, enjoy "world class" entertainment at a venue that would blow your socks off (gotta dress right though - no bubble gum and baseball caps)........with no problems whatsoever. What the hell, the cops see a group of black thugs in an area where they should not be, and the cops do nothing. This is absolutely ridiculous. I know the cops are afraid of the "race card", but we need protection and these cops and our inept mayor do nothing, while we are mauled by these animals. I hope the guy is okay.

ReplyDeleteAround 9:30 p.m., a boater spotted approximately 10 people beating someone near a "wall" at Chicago Avenue and North Lake Shore Drive.
Shortly after 11 p.m., a man was found bleeding and laying on the concrete near Ohio Street and North Lake Shore Drive.
An ambulance took the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
What is going on with the city???? These are areas that were always considered relatively safe. Is it me or is the vibe of the city changing. I'm a native Chicagoan and I don't recall it being this bad. It's sad to see a beautiful city going down the toilet.

ReplyDeleteAssuming we had conceal carry and you pulled out your gun you better be ready to use and if it comes to that and you shoot the first one the rest run like the cowards they are ,and if they had a gun they would have showed it. They are in mobs so they don't get caught with a weapon and cause they know the white sheep don't fight back
