Man bloodied in Budlong Woods attack

A man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, was viciously assaulted in Chicago’s Budlong Woods, Lincoln Square neighborhood.

The victim was attacked on the 2600 block of West Gregory Street, between Washtenaw and Rockwell, around 10 p.m.

The first eyewitness account -- which probably came from the disoriented victim -- described the offender as a black or Hispanic male with light or dark skin... and the suspect was wearing tan shorts.

A second eyewitness saw a shirtless black male wearing sagging jeans running away from the crime scene.

Investigators said someone, most likely the offender, left a baseball cap at the scene.

Apparently, the victim was bleeding so profusely from his face, officers said the offender was possibly covered in the victim’s blood.

At the time of this report, it wasn't clear if the man was attacked during a robbery, an attempted robbery, or for some other reason.

Investigators said the attacker may have been armed with a gun.

  1. Is this not literally around the corner from the 20th district station?

  2. Budlong Woods used to be the loveliest, safest neighborhood but that was before they built the police station there. Now the crooks know where it is. Police stations should be near junk yards so there is nothing to steal when they are released.
