
An employee at the Oriental Institute, located at 1155 East 58th Street in Hyde Park, was reportedly taken into custody after a police investigation revealed the employee allegedly stole money from a cash donation box.
The incident was reported to authorities on December 13, 2011, and the theft occurred between November 1 and December 12, said police.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2011, a car was vandalized at a South Side, Woodlawn neighborhood parking lot.
According to police, the car was parked on the 6300 block of South Dorchester Avenue when the incident occurred.
Between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone smashed the passenger's side rear window, stole the car's battery, and a GPS charger, said the UCPD.
There are several parking lots in the area where the crime occurred; including a church parking lot and a lot reserved for museum parking.
As of December 14, no arrests were made.

In less than a week, police are investigating another crime near Nichols Park.
On December 13, 2011, around 10:25 p.m., a theft or a robbery occurred on East 54th Street, between the 5400 block of South Woodlawn Avenue and the 5400 block of South Kimbark Avenue.
Three males took property from a man who was walking on the sidewalk, according information released by the UCPD.
The suspects are still at large.
On Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 6:10 p.m., two unknown male offenders robbed a man at gunpoint in Nichols Park at 1355 East 53rd Street; which is about a block north of the December 13th incident.
To the best of our knowledge, the suspects involved in the Nichols Park robbery have not been arrested.
