Report: Fake cop robs man in North Center neighborhood

An offender posing as a Chicago police detective, robbed a man in the city’s North Side, North Center neighborhood, said authorities.

The strong arm robbery occurred on the 1800 block of West Patterson Avenue, near Patterson and Wolcott, around 10:12 p.m., said police.

According to investigators, a male white offender exited a dark-colored BMW, possibly a M3 series, and told the victim he was under arrest.

Then the suspect punched the victim, took the victim’s wallet, and sped away in the getaway car, occupied by at least three other people, said police.

The police impersonator has a shaved head and a beard.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s or 30s and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and light-colored sweat pants.

If you have any additional information regarding this crime, please contact the police.
