Fire near Uptown, Andersonville border

Early Sunday morning, police responded to a fire near Chicago’s Uptown, Andersonville neighborhood border on the city’s North Side.

According to police dispatch, at approximately 1:25 a.m., a back porch was on fire on the 1400 block of West Foster Avenue, between Glenwood Avenue and Clark Street.

One source said the fire was at 1450 West Foster Avenue.

A preliminary report indicated the blaze was spreading to a nearby house.

Authorities said at least one person heard an explosion in the area.

If more information becomes available, this article will be updated accordingly.

UPDATE: It appears the fire damaged three buildings and several families were displaced. As of 1:57 a.m., no injuries were reported.
