Edgewater: Another shooting on Kenmore Avenue

Memorial Day morning, police were investigating the second shooting in less than a week in Chicago’s Edgewater community.

Around 4:52 a.m., gunshots were heard on the 5900 block of North Kenmore Avenue, near Kenmore and Thorndale.

According to one 911 caller, eight shots were fired in the area.

After the shooting, one eyewitness saw a white or cream-colored Subaru wagon going southbound on Sheridan Road from Thorndale, said police.

A second bystander reported a black jeep going eastbound on Thorndale, then southbound on Sheridan Road.

One of the jeep's doors was open and there was "lots of screaming inside the vehicle" as it drove away, said police.

Six days ago, on May 22, 2012, a shooting was reported about a block north of the Kenmore and Thorndale shooting at Kenmore and Glenlake.

  2. I truly felt lost without CNR! I'll venture out outside my "comfort zones" assured I know what's REALLY happening and.....where. Believe it or not, CNR is actually good for business.

Certain business owners/employees should be aware that their "sweep it under the rug" (i.e. lies) versions of blatant crime at their doorsteps created distrust amongst some very loyal patrons of years who, most likely, will NEVER return. I suggest they stick a quarter up their hiney because they played themselves.

  4. If only these gangbangers were better shots and actually hit each other, thinning out the herd a bit. Pathetic.
