Lakeview: Police investigate screams for help on Barry Ave.

Late Wednesday night, several North Side residents called police to report a person screaming for help in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.

On April 4, 2012, around 11:47 p.m., at least two people, at two different locations, dialed 911 to report someone calling for help on the 700 block of West Barry Avenue, near Barry and Clark.

One report indicated a woman was calling for help… another caller said the victim was a man… a third 911 call suggested a woman was tied up and needed assistance.

It’s unclear if the incident was related to a home invasion or a robbery… but police said they were looking for a white male with a Russian accent.

Authorities said the man may be in possession of stolen credit cards.

At 11:59 p.m., investigators stopped a possible suspect several blocks north behind the Scarlet Bar, 3320 North Halsted Street.

As of 12:23 a.m. Thursday, it appeared the suspect was still at large.

  2. Those damn Russians are everywhere. Was he a Russian Jew? Probably mob related.
