A man in his 20s was stabbed in the back outside a North Side, Rogers Park neighborhood store, said Chicago police.
The incident occurred around 8:41 p.m. on the 1600 block of West Pratt Boulevard, near Pratt and Ashland, said authorities.
Preliminary police communications indicated the stabbing happened in front of 1606 West Pratt Boulevard.
According to online business records, the address belongs to an establishment called Jerry Food Mart.
The offenders, two male Hispanics, one wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with letters on the front, were last seen headed eastbound on Farwell, presumably, from Ashland Avenue.
The stabbing victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, for medical treatment.
As of 9 p.m., the suspects were still at large and the motive for the stabbing was unclear.

REALLY? Violence on Pratt & Ashland? How shocking! CAN WE PLEASE TEAR DOWN THAT STRIP OF SHOPS?! The "church" and everything on that corner seems to promote gang activity, and the police don't seem to care or do anything to monitor that corner.
ReplyDeleteThere is a police camera on that intersection
DeleteDang Chicago whats wrong with you.
ReplyDeleteBusinesses and "churches" dont contribute to violence and gang activity. Gangbangers do. There was a flash mob beating in front of a court house in Baltimore recently. Was it the court house that caused this behavior? Again dealing with the liberal "logic" is futile. The police are always on that corner too. They cant be evertwhere at once.
ReplyDeleteThat "church" you disparage is actually an advocate for peace and reconciliation and is very engaged in the immediate neighborhood. Most of the membership live within a few blocks; they have youth programs as well as a specific program for boys one night a week with a meal and interaction with strong adult male role models. The church also helped found the new Positive Corners block club.
ReplyDeleteI also don't understand how a laundromat promotes gang activity, especially this one. I've been there and they don't allow loitering inside. The owners are quite strict.
As for the convenience store, it is one of thousands in the city.
Hmm...There was a stabbing at the 1528 building on April 2, but i guess this is a different one. This was domestic violence incident.
ReplyDeleteJust want to vouch for the efforts of the area. That church is great and there's a lot of effort going to keeping the area safe. Doesn't help that the police truck has one officer reading the paper and the other one taking a nap every day when the kids get out of school. We had a shooting at about 2:15 on thursday (the 5th). He was dead before people got there.
