At 5:39 p.m., someone reported a fire on the northwest corner of Sheridan and Briar Place.
An initial police dispatch report said the fire was possibly on the roof.
Although initial reports said the fire was at 3110 North Sheridan Road, authorities later confirmed the blaze was at 3140 to 3144 North Sheridan Road.
"Flames are all over the place", said one officer at the scene.
At 5:41 p.m., several intersections around the burning building were blocked while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
CTA was also notified of the street closures.
The fire was confined to the roof. No injuries or displacements were reported.

That whole intersection is a "diversity" mess. Formerly "rich" fathers sending their daughters off her for safe keeping......please, please, reconsider. Or at least teach them how to chew gum behind those shades. It's now Section 8 infested. They have no problem with pissing on your car even though the bathroom where they LIVE is now a block away (with a toddler in tow no less).
ReplyDeletethis is diagonally across the intersection from the highrise building where a fire killed a woman in the elevator 3 months ago to the day. those people freaked out with that thick smoke!

ReplyDeleteWhere they talking about the neighbors?
Neighbors who live immediately nearby said this fire was started by a resident of that building who was attempting to deep fry a ham on the building's roof deck. Caught the deck on fire, and also some of the flat rubber roof burned. Obviously not a member of Mensa. Fortunately no one was injured.
ReplyDeletedeep-fried ham? yukkkkkkk
