According to updated information, the incident occurred at the Lakeview neighborhood Starbucks at 3184 North Clark Street, near Clark and Belmont, around 11:53 p.m. Monday.
The assailants were described as three male blacks in their 20s, wearing dark-colored clothing.
One offender has a Mohawk with a blond streak in it, said police.
Tuesday, at 12:19 a.m., police stopped a possible suspect near Halsted and Roscoe, but he was released after the victims failed to identify him as one of the offenders who assaulted them.
Last year, back in July, two people were pepper sprayed on the 3200 block of North Halsted Street. One of the attackers was wearing an Afro with a blond streak in it.
In August 2011, a suspect with a similar hairstyle, struck a man with a bottle on the 3200 block of North Broadway.
It looks like the blond-streak-bandit is back in action.
Wow thats too unique of a hairstyle to be a coincidence. Hopefully the cops catch this guy so they can charge with ALL the pepper spray muggings...

ReplyDeleteHey, black communities in Chicago, if you ever wonder why the white, asian, latino, & "Hindu" (ie, Asian Indian) communities here hate your teens & twentysomethings so much, things like this are a perfect example why. Who actually does this??
Also, if this isn't a perfect anecdote for why CCW is needed in Illinois & Chicago, then nothing is. Things like this just don't happen in other states, because criminals know that their is a chance that any potential victim may be armed, and therefore, may be able to retaliate. Not to mention they are aware that store owners & managers may be armed, too.
Communities are made of individuals not one type of person. Being a different color is not a choice but more your genetic destiny. Acting like a piece of shit and pepper spraying people at random is revolting. Calling someone an ape is just as ingnorant. In my not so humble opinion, it fuels the fire. I do not wish to harm anyone nor have I ever done so for fun. But yet I am hated on due to the catagory I fit in in your mind. To you I'm an ape. We all judge one another on one level or another. Be it maliciously driven or existenially it's one of those things we like to think makes us uniquely human. How about learning from an experience and continuing to grow and share. DeleteThat Starbucks is HIRING the same (less the Mohawk) which is ATTRACTING that clientele in and around. At one time, it was the most convenient as I was always passing by but I refused to go in there.

I've been at that Starbucks at 4am and have seen black homeless guys literally chasing people leaving the bars. It was worse when the "Diplocrap" was open, but there's still the Abbott and their den of drug addicts. A lot of these aggressive panhandlers are NOT HOMELESS. Social service agencies give them free apartments and other shit.

He wears different expensive natty suits and is always prowling the neighborhood creeping the fuck out of people.
He needs to learn about Playstation or Wii or something other than wandering the 'hood all day, I know he can afford it.

This doesn't surprise me. That corner is such a freak center. besides Starbucks is becoming what Dunkin Donuts used to be IMO. ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it's silly that people sit in them all day reading, doing work on computers, and reading on their tablets, but whatever, at least those people spend money their, and keep to themselves.
Frankly, it's on the store staff to boot out the dirty, smelly, homeless & schfartzes who are their to just cause trouble & harass the paying customers. I have friends in the northern neighborhoods who reiterate the anecdotes on here about the scum who just loiter in & in front of those starbuck's, harrasing real customers and diminishing the overall experience of the store.
Starbucks employees need to man up & start booting those dredges from their stores. Otherwise, turning a "blind eye" to those vagrants simply encourages them to continue that behavior that is so offensive to paying customers.
