Ras Sekou Tafari, the owner of Frontline Books at 5206 South Harper Avenue, said the university's construction at Harper Court is ruining his business.
Tafari told 2 City News, a small, independent news channel on YouTube, that the university put up a tiny, obscure sign alerting potential customers that the struggling bookstore is still open.
"No one can see that sign," said Tafari. "We've been continuously rallying the troops. We hope the university will get back to us, but I don't think so. Up to now, they've been very disrespectful in regards to us."
Frontline? Troops? Fuck him and his Buffalo Soldier attitude and books.

As for the owner, he's obviously some Rastafarian type who sells all sorts of supposed secrets & potions.
One of the book titles I saw was "Secrets of the Lotus". WTF!
Others were "Lost Secrets of the Ancients" & something called "The Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt".
That tells me that he's one of those black idiots that insists that the Egyptians of the pharaoh's time were actually black & undoubtedly believes that Cleopatra was black, when in fact, she was Greek as were her entire family.

ReplyDeleteHis bookstore is struggling because it sucks, and not because of nearby construction. I would like to see if there has EVER been a profitable year of business there. I'm sure the city is giving him some sorts of handouts to keep it afloat.
If your business needs handouts to survive, it isnt a business. Its a charity case...

ReplyDeleteI used to use a internet cafe back in the day, the owner basically married an asian prostitute and moved her to America. She had a haircare salon that she ran with some African booty scratcher business partner. They were forever harassing me to come in for a haircut, I went bald early and the booty scratcher kept insisting she had the cure for it, some stank ass salve.
If she actually did, she would be a billionaire and not running a shitty hair salon in a strip mall in Fuckwater, USA.
Plus I like being bald, I save a lot of money on shampoo and hair styling products.
I need to add the hair salon partially failed and she moved it into the backroom of the internet cafe, so you could smell the sulphuric perm bullshit and other nasty smells.
