Random police calls: 01/10/2012: Bomb threat at Edgewater Dominick's?

The following police calls were made January 10, 2012. The accuracy of these reports have not been verified; they are merely a log of the complainants made with the Chicago Police Department.

Start 'em young!

Three very young alleged car burglars were reportedly spotted in the Chicago's increasingly troubled Uptown, Sheridan Park neighborhood.

A 911 caller said three male blacks, 9 to 12-years-old, tried to break into a vehicle near the intersection of West Sunnyside and North Magnolia Avenues, around 5:29 p.m.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after the 911 call, but there was no indication responding officers made contact with the alleged offenders.


Pregnant and no coat

At approximately 5:52 p.m., police received a "check the well-being call" regarding a purportedly pregnant female.

The woman, who was described as 8-months pregnant, was seen hanging around the intersection of North Lincoln and West Peterson Avenues.

The 911caller said the woman wasn't wearing a coat.

According to a responding officer, the woman is known panhandler who frequents the area.

A concerned citizen reported a man for allegedly harassing commuters at a North Side CTA train station.

According to a 5:50 p.m. emergency call, a man at the Jarvis Red Line, 1523 West Jarvis, was annoying CTA passengers with an offer to help them get rid of bedbugs.


Fire on the playground?

At least 15 to 20 people reported a fire at a Far North Side neighborhood playground Tuesday evening.

The alleged fire was burning in the play lot at Stone Scholastic Academy, 6239 North Leavitt, around 6:24 p.m.

At the time of this report, it was unclear if the fire was bona fide.


'Don't shoot!'

At 6:43 p.m., a 911 caller reported what was described as a "drug deal gone bad".

The caller reportedly told authorities a drug deal went sour outside 1050 West Byron Street.

According to the tipster, two male blacks and a female white were involved in the transaction.

Supposedly, before the deal went through, a gun was pulled and someone at the scene was overheard begging the gunman not to shoot.

The complainant said the people involved in the alleged illegal activity probably live at 1052 West Byron, said police dispatch.


Edgewater bomb threat?

It appears police were investigating a bomb threat in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, Tuesday evening.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the alleged threat involved the Dominick's at 6009 North Broadway.

So far, all we know is that a former employee and a computer or a computer room, were mentioned during the police communications.

At 8:02 p.m., an officer at the scene said the Bomb and Arson Unit cleared the store, but they were waiting for corporate to make the decision to reopen the supermarket.

At 8:30 p.m., staff members, and presumably customers, were allowed back in the building, said police.
