According to police dispatch reports, the fire was in a fourth floor apartment at 6815 North Sheridan Road.
Preliminary information indicated the fire started in the kitchen.
Traffic at Sheridan and Pratt, as well as Sheridan and Farwell, was temporarily blocked while firefighters worked the scene.
At the time of this report, it was unclear if there were any injuries or displacements.
If more information becomes available, this article will be updated accordingly.
UPDATE: Nearly 45 minutes after the fire was initially reported, the Chicago Fire Department was called back to the North Sheridan Road address around 12:15 a.m. Saturday.
Apparently, the fire reignited in the stairway.

I live on Morse, right by this building. I wlk past it to go to 7 11 sometimes. There are a lot of degenerates and scumbags that live in that building, sooooooooo no big surprise one of the geniuses that lives there started a fire. Rogers Park is filled with wack jobs, parolees, crack whores, gangbangers, dope dealers and white people on anti-depressants. Its very um "diverse". Some of the people that live there are very nice and hard working however. Its a shame we have to deal with the losers.
ReplyDeleteI am a research assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) living with my wife in this building. Back in August 2011 we applied to "Cagan Management Group" for residency in this building. We had to pass a time-taking background check to be assessed as quality tenants!!! Based on this, we were under an impression that nice people should live here! Shame on this company who lets every scumbags sign a lease and live here! We were not told that free accommodation is offered for suspicious and homeless people like that. Such a concealment...
