Lakeview: Woman attacked, hit in the head

A woman was seriously injured during an assault in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.

At approximately 9:42 p.m., a criminal sexual assault was reported from an address on 2800 block of North Sheridan Road.

According to police dispatch, the 911 caller said a woman was raped about an hour ago; which would have been around 8:42 p.m.

However, after a brief police investigation, officers said the woman was not raped, but she was physically assaulted.

The victim was knocked to the ground and sustained a “serious gash” to her head, said police.

An officer at the scene said the female victim was attacked on the 2900 block of North Sheridan Road, near Sheridan and Surf.

Authorities believe the victim may have been attacked during a robbery, but because of her head injury, the victim was unable to tell police what happened to her.

According to preliminary information, the offender is a male white.

At the time of this report, no further details were available.

  2. Yeah, the address has to be wrong. It probably happened in Uptown @ Sheridan/Sunnyside (not Surf). She got all confused wrapped up in her Sociology 201 book on the bus and recalled that pic of Ronny Raygun circa. 1980 planting the crack up there on page 1 when she stepped off. Sumthin', Sumthin' Just Ain't Right.

She really needs to just go back to Cary or Des Moines.
