Would-be burglar drops his coat and cell phone, leaves empty-handed

A thief who tried to break into a Lincoln Park neighborhood home didn’t get any loot, but he left behind a few of his own possessions, said police.

Around 8:44 p.m., an attempted burglary was reported on the 2400 block of North Racine Avenue, near Racine and Montana.

The offender was described as a male white in his 40s, possibly Hispanic, with a full beard.

The suspect was wearing all dark-colored clothing and a stocking cap.

During a struggle with an occupant in the home, the intruder lost his coat and a cell phone.

Both items were collected as evidence.
