Rider confronts CTA bus driver. |
Apparently, a female bus driver blew past a female passenger's stop, and refused to let the commuter off until she reached the next bus stop.
"Let me off, here!" demanded the irate passenger. "I'm reporting your motherf*cking ass! You passed my f*cking bus stop!" yelled the passenger.
As the passenger was getting off the #82 CTA bus at Kimball and Berteau, the women exchanged some pretty strong adjectives.
"I'm gonna report your black ass! You black bitch!" snapped the commuter.
"Get your ugly ass off, here! Get your ugly ass off, here!" screamed the CTA bus driver.
It's good to see that good manners are still in style.
WARNING! THIS VIDEO CONTAINS OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE.
The black female bus drivers are the worst. They all seem to be obese and always angry. If you don't like working with the public why take the job?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree about the female black bus drivers being miserable and seeming to hate their jobs because their men aren't around to support their kids and if they are, their men are lazy asses while their women work.... It's NOT OUR fault. I've had bus drivers blow past stops I have requested as well but I don't get in the drivers face. Makes me wonder what the hell they're thinking while they're driving????
ReplyDeleteManners? That went out with disco...
I never called the CTA to complain before I witnessed a female black bus driver totally ESCALATE a situation with her mouth. She couldn't admit she WAS wrong and couldn't take her punches. It was a southbound #22 from the Howard St. station.
ReplyDelete"......and you're going to get another call about this from the passenger shortly, I'm sure", I said. Her i.d. # patch has obviously been bleached white and I couldn't read it but I got the bus #. The driver was 75% the fault of that situation. SHE kept it going, even stopping the bus to continue her tirade.
Chicago's public transportation is second to none though, right?
Not stopping when a stop was requested is weak - fortunately, the only few times its happened to me, the driver realizes & just pulls over to let me out. I almost always go out the back door, & usually just shout, "Hey driver, you forgot the stop!" as non-rudely as I can, and every time the driver has been polite & stopped immediately.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know what happened or for how long before this video was shot, but IMO based on what we see, both are at fault.
Also, FWIW, it's probably not a good idea to try to severely antagonize someone driving a bus in Chicago streets - I'm sure the passenger is annoyed her stop was missed, but how would she feel if she distracted the driver & the bus ran over someone in the street????
Since the budget cuts the buses are so goddamn crowded you can't see out the windows, you can't count on the robot voice or the digital readout to tell you your proper stop, it sucks. I'm buying a car real soon.
ReplyDeleteGood one less mf complaining

ReplyDeleteWell, here's a different scneario when my stop was missed and I've witnessed it numerous times as well. AFTER picking up/letting out passengers at a - legit - stop I pulled the cord for the next. The bus driver then stops in the MIDDLE of the intersection of Ridge/Clark to pick up more of "her own" (I've been passed up with a smirk on their face even though they're stopped at a red light 10' from the stop). I discovered what that does is cancel my stop request and she blows right by it. I'm at the rear of the bus and simply state "Miss, please stop". She doesn hear. I state the same louder. She hears me, stops and tells me "not to yell at me like that". Nobody "yelled at you". She's not going to unlock the rear door and hold me captive with a stare down. I told her I'd kick that door open in the next 3 seconds. They might be Aretha Franklin in their home but I reminded that one she is a bus driver right now. It's their insecurity around White males. Fortunately these scenarios aren't frequent but they do happen.
ReplyDeleteThere are some bus driver's that are over-the-top, unexpectedly, courteous. I'm not asking for that either but they need to level out their employees attitudes. Their job is not that hard and they are paid very well for what they have to do. Most jobs these days are on a pay-for-performance basis (i.e. no passengers, not enough passengers = no pay, less pay). That's most likely not going to happen for bus drivers, but it could. Think about it. It's happened in many other traditional job situations. Bottom line - they should be thankful to have a job right now.
Of course it is against the rules - but I would pull the Emergency Red Ball next to either door.
ReplyDeleteThis releases the door locking mechanism, I guarantee she will stop the bus then (scream and curse) and probably call the Police; cool, make out a COMPLETE Police Report - and mail it to CTA
True story, I once was on a 151 Sheridan bus on Michigan Ave. at 7AM and the male driver kept falling asleep at stop lights!! I suspect he might of been under the influence of something. I called 911 & they said that they would report it to CTA?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, women bus drivers are loud and rude, my experience was on the western bus going south, she actually was running her mouth and being a bully, I should of reported that driver along with many others. I will make sure of this for the next time zero tolerance for their unprofessional behaviors.
ReplyDeleteSometimes drivers make an honest mistake.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, they pass you up because another bus with fewer passengers is trailing right behind them.
Sometimes passengers pull the cord too late to stop at the "next" stop.
The lady only had to walk back a block. We've all had to do it.
@Frequent Rider - Of course those things happen, this is not about that.
ReplyDeleteThis is about PURPOSELY and CONSCIOUSLY ignoring someone's request.
If you asked for Marlboros, and I gave you Newports - and said shut the F**K up about it; would you take that??? I certainly wouldn't.
And that is the situation here!
Mike P- I watched this video a few times and I see that it starts with the lady saying that she is reporting the driver for passing her stop. That's all we know.
ReplyDeleteIf it had started earlier and we could see the driver ignoring the request, that would be one thing, but we can't.
Correct, they can make an obvious mistake but when you ask them as politely as possible (so as not to fray their fragile psyche)to please stop and basically get cussed out anyway.... nasty people, here....nasty. Not all, but most.
ReplyDeleteHaha..black women are miserable!! Latricia needs to not have so many kids and lose weight so her man will want to support her!! Giiiirrrrrl I finn a be fo real!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily agree with what the rider said (I will NEVER call us "customers" til the cta gives us TOTAL respect) but IMO sometimes these drivers are on some high horse & the only thing they ever seem happy about is a) a smoke break w/their co-workers or b) payday!! What the driver said wasn't as pristine either, but this is what you have when you have a class system like this in the good old USA. We hate each other. And we consider this normal?!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise another mind-numbing day on this prison called a cta vehicle.
to all name calling people cut it out. you dont talk to your mom with that mouth
ReplyDeleteThe rude drivers are black, its the same all over the country; blacks love to take it out on whitey when they get the chance.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Taken me a while to realize how racist this site is.
ReplyDeleteTo all ignorant white or whatever raise you call your self don't be mad because black beautiful so don't hate everybody in the world have attuned it could've slipped her mind to stop one thing I hate is a cowerd
ReplyDeleteTo all racist people stop just stop the only people you ignorant people are targeting is blacks really do yourself a favor kill yourself
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 3:30pm. Sometimes we do if life becomes too burdensome for whatever reason. Ya'll kill each other though.
ReplyDeleteI have to say as a former transit bus driver from Atlanta that some passengers can push your buttons to the point where you want to lay hands on them but you must remain professional at all times.
