The incident occurred in the subway at the Monroe Blue Line station at 114 South Dearborn Street, around 7:13 p.m.
Shortly after the attempted robbery was reported, subsequent 911 calls indicated a “street performer” was harassing commuters on the platform.
The offender was described as a male black, about 6-feet-tall, wearing a blue shirt, dark blue jeans, and dark-colored shoes.
The would-be thief fled the scene northbound via the Blue Line Washington Street exit.

I can bet good money he's an "aspiring rapper and actor".
ReplyDeleteI know who this guy is. I take the Monroe Blue line each and every day to work.
ReplyDeleteThe shithead sits on a box and bangs out crappy 2-3 liner tunes before shifting his beats. He'll play there for a while and tries to sing. It's seriously terrible on the ears. I've heard some GOOD performers in that station that actually can play. This dude just seems to be shadowing as some "aspiring artist" while he stakes out a victim. He was there last Tuesday and Friday to my recollection.
That's why you don't talk to, or even pay attention to, these people.
ReplyDeleteIf they approach you, just yell at them, & tell them to go the F away. They expect their victims to be scared & complacent as they approach them & get into position to do something bad. Don't even let them get close.
If you suprise them like this, they will leave you alone, & look for a weaker sheep to intimidate & rob.
I think the vast majority of "El performers" suck and should go away.
ReplyDeleteAnd those guys selling (C)rap cds at State and Madison. I won't even steal that *hit, let alone pay $5 for a cd that probably has a computer virus on it.
