18-year-old Sylvester Curry from the 4600 block of North Beacon in Uptown, has been charged with a string of armed robberies on the CTA Red Line.
Through a Chicago News Report investigation, we discovered that two days before the Red Line shotgun robberies occurred, Curry had been rejected by his girlfriend.
Police say the 18-year-old Uptown man is responsible for the robberies at two North Side train stations.
Saturday, October 8, 2011, Curry pulled a sawed-off shotgun from a backpack and robbed several commuters at the Sheridan "L" stop at 3940 North Sheridan Road, and at the Loyola train station, 1200 West Loyola Avenue, said police.
One news report indicated Curry stole nearly a half dozen cell phones.
The apparently troubled teenager was arrested Wednesday, October 12, 2011, in Harvard, Illinois.
During the arrest, investigators say they recovered a sawed-off shotgun.
In our efforts to learn more about Curry, we discovered that the suspected criminal begged his girlfriend to take him back, just days before his alleged crime-spree.
Emotionally, October seemed to a pretty rocky month for Curry.
Several emails suggest Curry was frantically trying to win back the mother of his infant daughter.
On October, Curry wrote, "I really love you Chasity and I can't stand being with some one else".
Chasity did not respond.
On October 6, Curry's desperation seem to reach its boiling point.
"I need you Chasity brumlow I need my daughter make me the man you need me to be and i will make you the woman I need you to be I won't my family so bad I love Lillie and you lets stop playing games with each other lets be serious and make this work out if I have to get on my knees I will cause it means that much to me," said Curry in a FaceBook post.
On October 7, a day before the Red Line shotgun robberies, Chasity rejected Curry, again.
"You do know that if you can't move on a little and give this time your only gonna make things worse for us," responded Chasity.
Chicago News Report has reached out the Chasity for an interview. So far, there has been no response.
He might have had some girlfriend issues but had things gone wrong and he pulled the trigger other people would have had bigger issues thanks to this creep. Just think, your life could suddenly end unexpectedly while going about your business on the street or train because of someone like this.
