At 1:06 p.m., 911-callers reported a fire at a North Side high-rise in Edgewater.
According to several eyewitnesses, smoke was coming from the roof of the Thorndale Beach North Condominium at 5901 North Sheridan Road.
Authorities said it appeared work was being done on the roof, and there were several pieces of equipment left at the scene of the fire.
Traffic was temporarily blocked at Sheridan and Thorndale, and at Sheridan and Ardmore, while firefighters battled the blaze.
Southbound traffic at Granville and Winthrop was rerouted, as well.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
As of 1:41 p.m., no injuries or displacements had been reported.
