Woman robbed in South Loop; offender pretended to wait for bus


Saturday, August 20, 2011, around 9:25 a.m., a woman was robbed in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, said a community alert issued by police via email.

A woman's purse was stolen after she walked past a man pretending to wait for a CTA bus at 1500 South Indiana Avenue.

The offender approached the woman from behind and grabbed her purse.

When the victim held on to her handbag, the suspect brandished a gun.

The mugger was described a male black with a dark complexion, approximately 27-years-old, 6-feet-tall, and about 250 pounds.

The purse thief, who was last seen driving a light blue Buick, fled the scene northbound on Indiana to 14th Street, then continued westbound.

  1. That stretch of Indiana street has had several assaults and robberies since Daley's CPD security has been pulled. Time for cc for the honest citizens.
