How to describe a suspect to the police - What to do if your home is burglarized
How to describe a suspect to the police
If you become the victim of a crime, stay calm and focus on the offender's appearance.
If you give the police a really good description of the suspect, it increases the odds that the perpetrator will be arrested and brought to justice.
1. Pay attention to the suspect's sex, race, height, weight, age, and hair.
2. Take inventory of the suspect's clothing and accessories: The color, style, brand, shoes, and jewelry.
3. Look for scares, tattoos or distinguishing facial characteristics.
4. If the suspect speaks to you, listen carefully to the offender's voice. Does the suspect have an accent or a speech impediment? Do you recognize the offender's voice?
5. Pay attention to the suspect's direction of flight. If you are able to tell the police which way the suspect went, authorities may be able to catch the culprit before he or she leaves the area.
What to do if your home is burglarized
If your home is burglarized, do not touch anything, do not clean up.
Handling potential evidence will contaminate the crime scene.
Even something as simple as shutting an open door or closing a window, could destroy valuable evidence.
Most importantly, take an active role in your investigation.
Talk to your neighbors. Someone may have seen or heard something that can help the police crack your case.

Great article Timothy! Now, if victims could only remember to get a BETTER description, some of these ghetto thugs attacking innocent people MAY get caught:)
ReplyDeletePerfect! What he said...
ReplyDeleteI often am frightened by the younger black youth with pants hanging low and loitering on the sidewalks. They always seem to be up to no good.
