According to a recent Chicago Sun-Times article, within the next few days, the following North Side CTA train stations will be equipped with additional security cameras:
- The Jarvis Red Line station at 1523 West Jarvis Avenue (Rogers Park).
- The Morse Red Line station at 1358 West Morse Avenue (Rogers Park).
- The Bryn Mawr Red Line station 1119 West Bryn Mawr Avenue (Edgewater).
- The Argyle Red Line station at 1118 West Argyle Avenue (Uptown).
The Chicago Transit Authority plans to add 1,500 surveillance cameras, citywide.
In addition, reassigned police officers in uniforms and plainclothes will be added to CTA's security.
However, CTA does not have enough money to install cameras inside the trains, said a ABC news report.
The criminal community out there sure costs us a lot of money and effort. More cameras, more security guards, more police, more programs like midnight basketball, etc. It all adds up to more tax money having to be expended to try to buy safety.
ReplyDeleteThanks to them for ruining everything for everyone else.
This is a fricking band-aid! More cameras? And who's going to watch all these new cameras? By the time they see what's happening, the money, the high tech gear and possibly the injury/death of the victim will have ALREADY happened! The money used for ALL these cameras was a waste of money. They SHOULD have used it for security people. All these cameras do is let the police see who committed the crime way after the fact and than, if arrested, the judicial system will give them a slap on the wrist! It's a "lose lose"
ReplyDeleteThorndale, Morse, Jarvis, Howard needs more cameras and police presence the most. Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Loyola and Granville, is normally pretty decent for me, but could use the extra surveillance... I guess =/. But cameras don't scare anybody. They didn't scare me when I use to light up a smoke on the platform, and I'm not even a criminal.
ReplyDeleteAny station in Uptown just needs a FULL police force! The cameras there, just give the thugs an erection.
