Nothing says you're clueless, like praising the wrong people.
Apparently, Barack Obama's appearance on an upcoming Oprah Show, turned into a demented love-fest for out-going mayor, Richard Daley.
“Thank you. You have done an extraordinary job and this city has been transformed because of your leadership,” said President Obama.
Off camera, Obama even presented Daley with a gift as a token of his appreciation.
Once again, Obama has proven that he lives on another planet.
.....sounds just like when he commented about that D.C. incident where the black Professor was arrested by the White cop (well warranted situation)......"I don't know the facts, I haven't heard the whole story but I know the cop acted stupidly". "Stupidly". I think most in the public eye would have stated "I don't know all the facts, therefore I have no comment at this point". I lost all respect for him at that moment.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I'm not pro, nor anti-Obama. I just think he's an ass at this point whether he's green, black, white or yellow.
He's a great speaker and has "swagga" per Detroit. Yay.
Forget his birth certificate. I want to see his grades. Obama doesn't seem that bright to me.
ReplyDeleteBefore Daley took the reigns, downtown Chicago was full of thriving businesses and the neighboring parks were full of people who actually lived in Chicago. Then he turned the area into a tourist attraction - the city raised the sales tax - gutted Grant Park - prompted up gaudy "art" and called it improvements! Not to mention what happened once Daley tore down the projects! Daley leaves behind a legacy of failure!

Lets not forget that it was BUSH who got us into the mess we're in...Obama seems to be just continuing it. BUSH had 8 years to F@#K up this country, Obama's only been in office 2 and who knows, maybe things will change...though I doubt it.

I'm sorry, but if you can't remember what this city was like when "daddy" was in, then you didn't live here. Of course crime is worse now because there are more ghetto thugs being born to single moms who can't possible support them and guide them and laws have changed in their favor...thinK NAACP and civil rights, which were just in the planing stages when "Daddy" was in office. But any politician who dedicates decades of their life to "service" will eventually get burned out and make stupid choices. Such is the case with Richie so it's time for him to go. Terms in office should be limited to avoid this very thing. What was the President suppose to say to him???
For me, I do not believe a word out of ANY politicians mouth anymore...Obama cured me of that.

I'm not mad because he's black, I voted for him. I'm mad because I see no "change" "hope" or "yes we can". Many of his staff are from the BUSH administration, the same people who put us in this mess, so that doesn't give me very much "hope". Did he save the car industry? Sure. Did he keep us from financial collapse? Absolutely . But just what has he done for the average joe? For the "little" people? The rich got their tax break..again. The people on Social Security did not get their cost of living raise..because the cost of living didn't increase..yea right. He's doing what he can, I realize that, BUT, why did he have to put BUSH cronies back on the job????? That gives me pause.

towanda, When Daley I died in 1976, I was only 10 years old. :) I'm a lifelong Chicagoan who remembers Bilandic, Byrne, Washington, Orr, Sawyer and Daley II.
Obama's financial record is debatable. :)

I can remember downtown(State St.) being THE place to go in the 50's & 60's, ALL the huge department stores were there, Goldblatts, Wiebolts, The Boston store, Fields, Carson's, ALL the movie theaters, ALL the neon and of course the soda fountains at Walgreens. Than it became "ghetto blaster" heaven with all the JUNK stores started opening up down there. The big stores leaving for the burbs. That was during "daddies" reign, I can aslo remember the tracks where Millenium is now. I see nothing wrong with this ALSO being a tourist destination now, so, no, I don't think that's part of Richies "failed legacy". What IS the biggest failure is laying off police officers, cutting back funding on first responders and SPREADING the ghetto thugs from the torn down projects into ALL our neighborhoods. They deserved to live out their miserable lives in the projects. Only law abiding contributing tax payers should have gotten a pass out...NOT THE GHETTO THUGS! They give not only the city a bad reputation but also their OWN culture. Some people should never have been in the "gene pool"...
