The shooting occurred Friday, June 17, 2011, around 8 p.m. at Max Food Mart, 1137 West Garfield Boulevard.
According to several news reports, four black teenagers were seen fleeing the scene.
Police have not determined if the 48-year-old man was murdered during a robbery.
If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact the police.
And people wonder why there aren't any grocery stores in black neighborhoods.
ReplyDeleteSomeone should put a big bubble over the south side, close all the businesses, and shut down all their services. That'll teach 'em!
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with this man's family. It's sad that black people have no respect for human life.
ReplyDeletePretty dangerous to work in a store in a ghetto neighborhood. That's the second person murdered there; another worker was also killed there some years back.
ReplyDeleteSome of those stores operate from behind a shield. Customer puts the money down in a little turnstile apparatus, employee puts the merchandise in at the other end, and it rotates so the exchange is made without either party coming into contact with each other and the customer can't bolt without paying.
Says something, doesn't it?
I would NEVER IN MY LIFE live in a Black neighborhood in Chicago! I'd rather be homeless before I stoop that low.
ReplyDeleteKinda shocking to me it's 4 black teenagers were running from the scene. Perhaps they were late to church and didn't want to miss the start of the sermon?
ReplyDeleteWow I sense a lot of racism in some of these anonymous posts...good going humans.
ReplyDeleteYes I clearly see alot of racism in these post as well! People we have to do better, lets not play the racism game. Some people have no rescepct for human life. I think it's sad no matter what color the boys were. Let's keep the family of the victim in mind and help capture the jackass........
ReplyDeleteI don't seen any racism in the posts above. Facts and numbers don't lie in the city of Chicago. Wherever there's male Blacks, you cannot relax! Fact!
ReplyDeletePlenty of racism here as always because whites don't committ crimes. I use to live around the corner from there a few years ago and after the first man was killed, they should have closed down but you know what got in the way, GREED as usual. I never bought anything out the stores because they sold outdated and expired food, used drunks and addicts like they were dogs and talked to customer like they were garbage. I'm making a point and if people continue to turn the other way, this is going to keep happening. None of you have been there so be quiet
ReplyDeleteAnonymous of 1:36 is a typical example of the twisted mindset of many blacks. Blame the murder victim. They've got it coming, they sell bad food. Greed is to blame, on the part of the victims that is. Then he threatens that it's going to continue.
ReplyDeleteNot a word about the actual perpetrators, the killers themselves.
What a disgusting mentality.
And this is why there are "food deserts" all over the south side. Check out the history of that. It's because they were robbed, shot and shoplifted until it no longer was worth it.
ReplyDeleteBless the family and to hell with the ghetto thugs who did this.
some of them are just like you white people. wish it were your store.
ReplyDeletesome of them arent just like you white people who take care of your stores.

ReplyDeleteI lived there too. I spent most of my childhood in that neighborhood in the 50's and 60's. In fact, I lived within steps of that store when it was run by a kindly man with Parkinson's disease with whose sons I went to school. We weren't all good kids always. He suffered petty pilfering like anybody who ever runs a business in a working class neighborhood. We never blamed it on the quality of his goods. We were just young jerks and we knew it. But nobody ever robbed him that I am aware of and certainly he was never shot providing groceries and incidentals as a convenience and even at that kind of rate to people in the neighborhood. That's just a plainly bum excuse for murder. Race, here, is a straw man. Let's move on.
Asad I miss you very much and I will always love you habibi
