Loop, downtown Chicago bomb scare

Chicago police are investigating a suspicious package left at a downtown high rise, that caused evacuations and major delays on CTA's Red and Blue lines.

The tube-shaped device at the center of the commotion was discovered at the Citadel Center building at 131 South Dearborn Street, around 3:45 p.m.

As a precautionary measure, several floors in the 37-story office building were evacuated.

In additional to service delays on the Red and Blue lines, according to ABC News, the following CTA buses have been rerouted: #1, #7, #28, #36, #22, #24, #121, #123, #110, and the #62.

As of 8 p.m., officials determined the device, which was wrapped in paper, is not a threat.

Street traffic and CTA services are slowly returning to normal.

    It's a crazy ass world we live in today that we have to worry about some maniac with an agenda bringing down a building but than, who would have thought we'd have to worry about getting our cell phone ripped off, or going to the park, or dodging stray bullets, or getting attacked for no reason and on and on and on...

    I work in the loop. The brown line was unusually full tonight. Now I know why! Glad no one got hurt.

    Everyone is so afraid here. Oh my gad a tube shaped object, let's call in the entire police and fire department, and shut the city down! Walked by yesterday, looked like 911 had happened. Fear is destroying this city...this country.

    Study war no more. the bombing is sad I thank god for letting me live through. ppl giving their soul to Satan and cant even get A job. sad how can I be against a lost soul they need help
