A despicable act of arson that left eight horses dead in Morgan County, may be a hate crime.
On April 24, 2011, late Easter Sunday, someone set fire to Brent Whitehouse's barn at 874 West Richards Road in McConnelsville, Ohio.
The fire was so hot, it melted a tractor that was inside the barn.
Whitehouse said he tried to save his horses, but he couldn't get the doors open. The barn was engulfed in flames within five minutes, said the distraught owner.
The arsonist(s) spray painted the words "fags are freaks" and "burn in hell" on the outside of barn's walls.
The owner, Brent Whitehouse, is gay.
The FBI is investigating.
This is yet another tragic and disgraceful hate crime from a hateful person or group of people. We seem to be taking huge steps backwards in this country. I think the only thing that's making advancements is technology. We, as a society are not. There's prejudice STILL against gay people, black people, hispanics and who knows who else. We hate each other so it's no wonder some of the world hates us too. This is the 21st century, it's time to move past this crap. It's time to start acting like human beings instead of cave people! It's time to practice what millions of people in this country PREACH! It's time people!
ReplyDeleteChicago News Report? I guess McConnelsville, Ohio, is just an eastern suburb of Chicago?

In my lifetime, I have known several people who were either brutally murdered or severely injured, because of their sexual orientation.
ReplyDeleteSeveral decades later, here we are.
Many of these hate crimes are perpetrated by the "victims". Off hand I can think of high profile incidents locally that made the news. Incidents at Northwestern University, Elmhurst College, Trinity International University. Sorry, but my gut tells me that the motive in this case isn't hate--it's money.
ReplyDeleteThere is not a legal industry in America that attracts more crooks, cheats, creeps, scammers, ex-cons, conmen, grifters and molesters than the horse industry. Sexual orientation had nothing to do with it - money 100%.
