Saturday evening, police were called to a Far North Side Rogers Park address to investigate a strong arm robbery.
Around 4:55 p.m., a male victim was attacked and robbed on the 1600 block West Howard Street, near Howard and Marshfield, said authorities.
The exact address given by police dispatch was 1615 West Howard Street. The address belongs to the Howard Theater Building.
Citing preliminary reports, the victim was talking on his cell phone when a black male in his 20s approached him from behind... struck him in ribs with a hard object... and stole his iPhone.
One source indicated the victim was hit with a gun.
The thief, who is approximately 6’3” and very thin, was last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black shoes.
At the time of this report, the mugger was still at large.

A lot of people dont realize what a strong arm robbery. It sounds like the robber, was just like, hey I am really gonna rob this from you.

Howard street and the city in general is not a good place to walk down the street talking on the phone. Wow 5 pm broad daylight, thief has guts.
A report from the Red Eye on Crime once talked about crime and when it happens during the day.
It happens every hour of the day. PEAKING at 9 pm. Robbers have to sleep too.
There isn't any reason to live in or visit that part of Rogers Park, it is lost to the African Beast.

ReplyDeleteI remember one time in the Winter, supposedly a train car derailed at that Howard station and they just dropped all us northbound working class people off at the Jarvis stop to fend for ourselves. 2 hours to get 5 miles to Evanston. World class public transportation. There was always trouble on that #22 through that section too. If it wasn't the "mother" loudly cussing out the school principal every other day about "my babay ain't do dat, no way", it was a fleeing shoplifter causing a traffic wreck or the bus itself conked out dead in the intersection waiting for a replacement. So I got a job transfer.

I just know of the 13 apartments I looked at throughout the city, the one on the lake in Rogers Park was the only one they kept calling back about every day...."Are you still interested?". "We'll put a brand new refrigerator in there". "Free parking too". I knew something wasn't right and really didn't even know the area quite well then.

Its okay for people to be down on RP, won't make a difference, it is still improving, and there will always be crime in the city, even if it is was only white.
I went to Dominick's for some food but they told me Phoebe ate it all, and left a wet spot where she was standing at the checkout.

People do it all the time, and yes the same apartments I viewed on Craigslist in Rogers Park 2 months back are still available with lower rents. Yes there is crime in the city but there are still parts that are really nice like the entire far northwest side. Most neighborhoods dont have tranny prostitutes, gang bangers, crazy urine soaked drunks that scream at everyone, and other assorted nut jobs and lunatics so please stop saying that crime is everywhere. It not even remotely the same. All of the small businesses are closing because everyone in this shit show neighborhood is a broke clown and cant afford to buy local. This neighborhood is a cesspool of losers that support each other in their less than mediocre endeavors. Another thing to consider is that he invested in several rental units in Rogers Park so he and others like him have an agenda. Make the neighborhood look nice and appear safe to attract normal people that work, wont destroy his units and pay rent on time. Good luck with that. Landlords in nice neighborhoods have a hard enough time filtering out the degenerates let alone the low lives in Rogers Park. If they closed all the half way houses that hold the parolees and nut jobs, as well as get rid of the section 8 and gang bangers the property values would skyrocket. there's no rational discussion to be had with the naysayers on this blog! if u are someone committed to making positive changes in your community like cleaning up trash, and expressing the good things about your neighborhood, then you are blindly derided as an out-of-touch do-gooder liberal. The naysayers wouldn't be happy living in any neighborhood unless it was lily-white and 100% free of minorities. So why don't these people just pack up and move to the suburbs somewhere and shut the f*ck up already?! While you may not be out committing violent crimes against their neighbors, do the naysayers really think that they are any less of a plague on their community?
